The Masked Singer champ Jewel Drops an EP featuring every song she sang on the show.
Winner of The Masked Singer season 6, Jewel, did a really smart thing. Right after the Dec.15 finale, which declared her the winner, the singer released an EP of all the songs she sang on the show.
On The Kelly Clarkson Show last week, Jewel explained how she chose her competition songs, “Those were songs I’ve been wanting to sing my entire career. And you know how it is,” she told Kelly. “We fall in love with songs, we fall in love with singers. But I was always a songwriter, so I never covered these songs.”
Jewel loved finally having the chance to cover an “eclectic” group of singers that she’d idolized. “It was fun to sing them.” The singer-songwriter is also working on a new album. “I don’t release records very often,” Jewel admitted. Because she has made being a mom her number one priority, she’s been taking time between records. She said, frankly, to Kelly, “I made plenty of money on my music in the nineties, and so it really lets me make the kind of music that I want whenever I want.” The new record will be her first since 2015.
Competing on The Masked Singer is very isolating
Also in the interview, Jewel shared that she’s an artist and had been drawing a one-eyed heart character. When The Masked Singer opportunity came up, that character she imagined is what she wanted to be. She described singing in the costume as “super hard,” adding that you can’t really see well, because producers want to be so strict with the screens so nobody can peek in them. It’s a complaint that most of The Masked Singer contestants have about wearing the costume. She could only see about 30 feet in front of her. “It was really disorienting and discombobulating.” she added. Also, the contestants are so isolated, they have no idea who they are competing against.

The Kelly Clarkson Show Segment ends with a big surprise. Jewel assumed her trophy would come in the mail. But Kelly had it, and awarded it to her. From one singing show winner to another!
