Tonight, season 6 of the wacky singing competition, The Masked Singer comes to an end. The winner will be revealed. All remaining contestants UNMASKED. The TWO remaining singers will perform tonight: Bull and Queen of Hearts.
Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke sit on the panel. Nick Cannon hosts.
How will FOX fill two hours? With a bunch of filler and clips! Bull and Queen will sing a holiday song at the top of the show. But the serious competition songs won’t come until the second hour.
Bull sings “Holly Jolly Christmas” as golden snowflakes fall in the background. Queen of Hearts performs ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” It’s very sultry.
In the second hour, the competition begins. The Bull and Queen of Hearts will sing two songs each: A stripped down song and a show stopper
Bull
Clues: Bull tried to be a typical boy, but he couldn’t do it. He took him a long time to find role models. But now, he’s trying to be that for other people.
Performance: You Gotta Be by Des’ree – Bull shows off his head voice and ability to tell a story and reveal emotion. But it’s not his stripped down number! Because suddenly, he busts out major dance moves including a split and a bunch of massive runs. Jenny thinks it may be Titus Burgess or Neil Patrick Harris Ken guesses Taye Diggs. Nicole admits that she knows who bull is. She knew from day one. But she’s keeping it close to her chest
Prediction: Nicole and American Idol alum Todrick Hall are pals. She knows it’s him.
Queen of Hearts
Clues: Queen wrote a letter to her Grandma. It was so upbeat. But she actually had no place to live. She still has that letter today. She hopes grandma is proud.
Performance: What’s Going On by Marvin Gaye – Queen always brings her own thing to covers. Her phrasing is extraordinary. She brings power to her vocals, while being tender at the same time. She sounds like no one else. Which is why she’s a legendary singer underneath that mask! Nicole guesses Jewel. DING DING DING. Jenny cycles through a bunch of a bad guesses. Kellie Pickler? Really? Ken guesses Miranda Lambert.
Prediction: Nicole is CORRECT. Queen of Hearts IS Jewel.
Bull
Clues: Bull experienced massive self-doubt. He wondered if he should quit show business. He loves being accepted behind the mask.
Performance: Invisible by Hunter Hayes – This is actually Bull’s stripped down performance. Suffice it to say, he doesn’t bust out into splits and dance moves during the song. Instead, he wears his heart on his sleeve. Thing is, Bull is a better showman than Queen of Hearts. But she runs rings around him vocally. Nicole is fake crying. She is rooting for him to take home the trophy! He mentions that Astronaut wrote the song. Bull is all choked up! “I’ll never stop singing no matter what happens.” He adds, “This show has changed my life.”
Queen of Hearts
Clues: She started singing to save her life, not to be famous. She really liked doing the Masked Singer. Her last performance is bittersweet. She did the show for her son.
Performance: Firework by Katy Perry – Queen doesn’t dance like Bull. But her vocal is full of energy and passion. And she gets pyro! THAT is the last performance of The Masked Singer season 6! Jenny thinks she should win. Queen calls the show “magical.”
RESULTS
The panel, studio audience and remote superfans vote! The final votes are in! And of course…it’s time for a commercial break. Nick swears the vote was the closest in Mask Singer history. Hm. The winner of this season’s Golden Mask is…Queen of Hearts! Just as I expected.
Bull first impressions: Jenny’s guessed Brian Latrelle. She’s changed to Adam Lambert. YOU LOSE. Ken guessed Ne-Yo. But he’s changed to Taye Diggs. Nicole guessed Todrick Hall and she’s sticking with it. BECAUSE SHE KNOWS. AND YEP. Bull is Todrick Hall! Nicole calls Todrick one of her best friends. He sings ONE LAST TIME.
Queen of Hearts: First impression guesses – Jenny’s first impression was Fergie. She changes to Jewel. DING DING DING. Robin guessed Idina Menzel. He also changes to Jewel. Ken’s first impression guess is Renee Zellweger and he’s sticking with it. Nicole’s first impression was Carrie Underwood. Wrong. She changes it to Jewel. By now, everyone knows who it is. And Queen of Hearts is Jewel. She calls the win “a privilege of a lifetime.”
With 3 correct first impression guesses, Nicole wins the Golden Ear.
