In an interview with Pop Stop on the American Idol 13 finale red carpet, Jessica Sanchez hinted about some big news she’ll be be announcing soon.
“I hear some congratulations are in order,” the reporter said to the American Idol season 11 runner-up, “I heard you’re going to announce a new deal with a record…”
“Very soon, very very soon,” teased Jessica, “I can’t announce it yet, but very very soon. Just wait.”
“Follow me on twitter and find out!”
The conversation about the “deal” is edited. It’s hard to know if Jessica was hinting at an actual record deal, or just a release date for her second album. She did confirm that she’s working on her next record.
“We’re working with a couple of amazing producers and writers,” she said. “I’m writing and trying to make it as authentic as possible. I just want it to present me.”
Jessica was signed to Interscope/19 post Idol and released her debut album, Me, You & The Music in spring 2013. Her single “Tonight,” never took off and subsequently, album sales were poor. There has been no official confirmation that Jessica and Interscope have parted ways, but it seems likely considering she is no longer listed on the label’s website and has recently taken to her personal youtube channel to promote herself.
