Here’s a super-sweet story about Jennifer Hudson, who has been a long time advocate for LGBT issues. The American Idol season 3 alum, crashed one of Dallas’ first same-sex weddings on Wednesday.
Scott and Chris Lindsey have been together for 14 years and have four children. According to The Hollywood Reporter, after they tied the knot at the W Dallas – Victory, and their vows were finished, they watched a video Jhud had pretaped, congratulating them.
But then, much to the surprise of the grooms and their guests, a curtain dropped to reveal Jennifer, who then serenaded the couple with her song “I Still Love You.”
Much merriment ensued as the guests and grooms sang and grooved along. Jennifer and her background dancers even left the stage to bust a few moves with the happy couple, as photographers snapped away. “God bless you, and congratulations,” Jennifer said, before she left the stage.
Last year, Jennifer partnered with the Human Rights Campaign and the W Hotels for their “Turn It Up for Change,” LGBT marriage equality initiative. After the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in June, the hotel began planning Hudson’s big wedding-crash surprise.
