Jennifer Hudson teamed up  with W Hotel’s marriage equality campaign, TURN IT UP FOR CHANGE, to spread a positive message of love and acceptance for the LGBT community in her new “I Still Love You” music video. The song is off of her latest album, JHUD.

The video tells the touching story of a father as he contemplates turning up at his gay son’s wedding.

“I just think the concept was just powerful to go with such a positive song,” says the American Idol alum to MTV, where the video is premiering. “It’s about love and everyone should have love and have the right to love who they want to love,”

So I thought it would be powerful to take a concept like trying to find your equality in love no matter who you love.”

“I hope people walk away with a broader perspective of marriage equality,” Jennifer said about the video’s message. “And everyone being able to choose who they want to love and just accept each other as their own and just give love and receive love, just love and be happy people.”

“I love seeing people come together, so I thought it was a very real, beautiful inspiring moment,” she said of the clip’s celebratory vibe. “And I think the video is just beautifully shot.”

Involving herself in the W campaign and making the video about equality is a way for the Oscar winner to give back to her LGBT fans.

“I grew up surrounded and supported by the gay community and I just want to make sure I show them the same support and this is my way of doing it,” she said. “This is the perfect way to show my support through my music and just be there to support because again the gay community has always been my biggest support system it’s just me showing the love back.”

JHud’s video will also help support Logo’s #All50 campaign, which is a platform for LGBT people and allies to keep up to date on the latest news and share personal stories of marriage equality leading up to the Supreme Court’s pending decision to legalize gay marriage in all 50 states.
