Jason Castro Sings ‘Crazy’ for Billboard Mashup Monday – VIDEO

Jason Castro performs an acoustic version of Gnarles Barkley’s “Crazy” for Billboard Magazine’s Mashup Mondays.

After he talks to Billboard that singing the “schizophrenic” song gives him a big release.  “Crazy” is one of my favorite Jason covers. He sang it for his Idol audition, but it was never shown because the Idol peeps couldn’t get it cleared. Pity.

Video after the JUMP…

  1. I loved when he sang this on the AI tour. I love it even more now. He has grown so much as an artist! And Stephen is wonderful on the guitar!

  2. Season 9 Judges: Too slow for me dawg. You didn’t have a moment.

But I loved it. Nice, Jason!

  3. Wonderful, thanks for the video. I have always loved Jason, Cook and now Kris.

  4. The same exact thing happened to David Archuleta on the same exact song. All we ever saw were the glowing judges’ comments, preceded by a fake smash-up of the end of another audition song. David later performed Crazy a couple of times for his adoring and curious public. After the competition, of course. And the verdict? Absolutely spot-on brilliant. I like Jason’s, too.

  5. Love Jason’s Crazy.

    Here’s some new Jason news…

  6. Jason in Singapore? cool, maybe my first Idol love, Jason will meet up with my second, Adam? or is Adam gone already? Anyhow, have always loved Jasons version of Crazy, it is the best and just gets better

  7. Nicely done. So much more vocal depth and control now compared to when he was on AI. Like that version best of any I’ve heard him do.

  8. I enjoyed Jason performing Crazy on the AI tour but am really loving this acoustic version. Plus Jason’s vocals have improved so much since idol. Great job. Maybe we’ll get a recording of it someday.

I was still sad to see Alex go. He has potential.

  11. I love Jason singing this song. Loved the tour version. Love this version. But my fave is prob the version he did at one of his first concerts, when he played at Tx A&M. I think he is doing so well. I just love him.

  12. That is a great video & studio recording of “Crazy” for Billboard! I love it! I remember this from the tour, but THIS is great.

  13. Imagine thinking about singing in Singapore three years – no way. Jason is now living a dream come true. Way to go!

  14. I hope Jason sings this at his Manila shows.

Speaking of these shows, I have claimed my tickets (plus a meet and greet pass) to his first show at Trinoma and am awaiting confirmation of my reserved seats at his second show at Glorietta 5. Unfortunately, it seems like I may have to pass up on the first show because Thursday is a hell day for me at work and I am unlikely to make it to the venue in time for the show. :( I’m definitely going to the second show, though. I have reserved seats, courtesy of a friend, to the third show at Cebu, too, but I have decided not to fly out of Manila for that one due to a filial affair I need to attend elsewhere. I intend to see the last show, too, though. (Fangirl much? Hee. Hey, these shows are free! ;D)

(My friend posted a blog entry with pics of ads/promo banners for the Philippine shows here.)
