The Voice winner Jake Hoot recently made a stop at his coach Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk show. On the Monday (Jan 6) episode, the country singer performed his original song, “Better Off Without You.”
Kelly considers Jake an inspiration for folks who are afraid that it’s too late to follow their dreams. Jake won The Voice at 31, but Kelly thinks it’s “cooler” that he established himself in the music business after 30. “That’s a really cool lesson for everybody out there,” Kelly said, “People got behind you because they love your music, they love you.”
Jake confessed that when he stood with Ricky Duran on stage waiting for host Carson Daly to announce the winner, he was all ready to pick up his fellow contestant in a congratulatory hug. But when Carson announced his name, he “got the wind knocked out of me.” Jake added that he joked earlier on “If I win, I”m gonna faint!” Jake was praying, “Oh my God, please don’t let me faint now!.'”
