We have a cornucopia of reality singing competition show alumni to report on this week. The Voice, X-Factor UK, AGT Nashville Star and Idol are all representing – TAR is even in there.
Season 4 Nashville Star winner Chris Young and Season 3 Voice winner Cassadee Pope have a duet climbing the Country charts, so it made sense for them to tour together. They are selling out each venue from Massachusetts to Michigan. Also from The Voice is Matt McAndrew who was a runner-up from Adam’s team on Season 7 (Craig Wayne Boyd won that year and went on to part ways with the label before releasing an album). Matt is opening for Plain White T’s (“Hey, There Delilah”) in Minneapolis.
Canaan Smith was taken out of TAR by a partner who was afraid of a hotel water slide, but he’s doing okay in Country. He’s opening for Brantley Gilbert on his latest tour and they sold ou the James Brown Arena in Augusta (I bet he feels good).
We have a late breaking result from the summer’s American Idol Tour. 860 people showed up in Richmond to see them perform (not feeling so good).
Little Jackie Evancho was only 10 when she placed second on the 4th season of AGT. She’s now only 15 (they would have loved her on Idol this year) and recently performed in Florida.
Finally, we have X-Factor UK Season 6 runner-up Olly Mrs. Last fall, he was in London giving a concert at one of the O2 venues.
I would probably be remiss if I didn’t report on JLo’s Vegas gig. She performed 6 nights at the end of January selling out every night – total of 25,918. Ticket revenue was a cool $5,133,990 – I guess she doesn’t need the day job anymore.
