  3. I am glad the SYTYCD tour is doing well because I love Russel Lauren and Kent! :)

  4. Wow, Rascal Flatts plays huge venues! Also, if I’m not mistaken, the SYTYCD tour looks to be doing better than the Idol tour? The venues seem to be in the 6000 range, wasn’t that near what a number of the reconfigured venues were for AI? They’re getting great percentages, it seems. I’m guessing though the Idol tour was longer, had more dates, etc…

Windmills, is Daughtry’s tour over, i.e. are those stats final?

  5. sma11ie: Windmills, is Daughtry’s tour over, i.e. are those stats final?

On Daughtry’s site I’m seeing a couple of South Africa concerts at the end of this month and a special acoustic show in Vegas but no arena dates. So yes, I believe these stats will be final for their tour :)

  6. Daughtry just played the Tampa Bay area Oct 16th, have those stats been posted? I guess it’s too early still? It’s kind of a weird venue, I was wondering how that one sold.

Those are my favorites too! I went to the Newark, NJ show and it was awesome! The numbers are a little bit deceiving, though, because the Pru Center holds around 16,000, yet it appears only around 1/3 of those available seats were for sale. I do know some people who had purchased higher seats were upgraded at the concert. The floor and 1st tier seats were pretty full, though, so that is probably the maximum for sale that they’re counting.

  8. Daughtry’s arena tour ended months ago.

Since then they’ve been scheduling random bookings to keep active. IMO because Chris didn’t want to be tied down to the obligations a more traditional tour brings with twins on the way.

Not familiar with the venue, but Chris posted a pic of the opening act for that date and the place looks full:

That makes sense to me. I think that’s what the AI tour organizers should’ve done with most of their venues to start- just offer floor and first tier, curtain off the rest, and configure venues so you only need like 7000 seats to sell out. Instead, it looked kinda bad when sales were so low they had to switch up dates, cancel shows, etc etc. …

Since then they’ve been scheduling random bookings to keep active. IMO because Chris didn’t want to be tied down to the obligations a more traditional tour brings with twins on the way.

Oh yeah! Twins on the way, almost forgot. That makes sense. Are they working on a new album as well, since bookings (outside of the international ones) are more spaced out now?

  11. Not that I’m aware of. Chris stated they’d be taking time off when the twins were born and start work on a new album at some point next year but he hasn’t given an indication of when that will be.

  12. When you look at the full BB Boxscores almost all the top grossing 40 concerts are classic rock (Rush) and country ( mostly Toby Keith) I know there are few big Pop acts touring but what a disconnect from Pop radio. It’s like concerts, singles and album sales are worlds apart from each other.

  13. These were posted late last night in the numbers thread. I think that thread is dead.
    From Mansfield:

    Additional downloads:

Adam Lambert, Whataya Want From Me (6,000, -6%, 1.582 million)

Carrie Underwood, Cowboy Casanova (4,000, +2%, 1.5 million)

    Carrie Underwood, Temporary Home (3,000, -3%, 596,000)

Kris Allen, Live Like We’re Dying (3,000, 0 change, 1.567 million)

This is Jannus Live right? I wonder if they even report their boxscores.

The big thing is having a whole set list of songs that people want to hear. The classic rock bands definitely have that and in country music when you’ve been a hitmaker as long as Kenny or Toby or Brad or Keith have, you’re going to get people wanting to come see your show. That’s why you see that even though their CD sales may be going down, there are acts with their concert attendance going up or at least holding steady. I think what makes people buy tickets is a boatload of past hits plus a current hit and for younger acts there’s usually a lag between concert sales and hits unless you take over the world like Gaga and Taylor Swift have. That’s the tricky part for pop: you can be the flavor of the month hitmaker but keeping up the hits to the point of keeping people interested in seeing your show isn’t as common.

  15. This is Jannus Live right? I wonder if they even report their boxscores.

Yep! I don’t know if they report or not. The photo above looks great. I haven’t been there since they did major renovations, it was kind of a dump.

  16. I hope the numbers for the tour Kris is doing with Lifehouse get reported eventually.

I saw on twitter that AWM should get 3 automatic Hot AC adds on Monday

  17. Re: that wikipedia article, why hasn’t Crush been certified platinum yet? That song’s from 2008?! There are others from 2009 that haven’t been certified yet, too. Is it not important to record companies anymore, is it too expensive these days, or are they just lazy?

Also, it’s just a matter of time before Carrie’s BHC is the top single seller. She’s closing in on Jordin’s No Air.

  18. Looks like starting with HAC is the best bet for Lee and Kris. Bruno, Katy, Kesha and Rhianna are all impacting next week. If they are going to release Sleepwalker for Adam, I hope they have a strong radio edit and wait another week or two.

I think this is a good strategy for Kris and Lee. Let them blow up on HAC and move over to pop once they are at the top of the chart.

Re: Adam. I don’t think it matters too much how close an add date would be to Katy, et al. Those artists will leap over him pretty much immediately. I’d be in more fear if I had a song in the top 20 range. In looking at the chart, its getting pretty tight again. THere was a bit of a vacuum at the top for a while as there were few really strong songs, now the CHR chart is filled with upward arrows. He may Advance up HAC easier than CHR. Hopefully if they do this, they’ll release on both charts at the same time.

  20. That’s the tricky part for pop: you can be the flavor of the month hitmaker but keeping up the hits to the point of keeping people interesting in seeing your show isn’t as common.

Especially if you can’t sing. ;) I love my pop, but only on my ipod. There are only a few pop acts i’d actually pay to see.

It seems like most of them couldn’t be bothered, the country labels however are quite diligent in getting songs certified. Just noticed that Jive finally got round to getting Kris Allen’s Live Like We’re Dying certified platinum last week –

LMAO! You may be on to something there. I was thinking about all the pop people who do well on tour (Gaga, Beyonce, Usher, etc) and they can all sing. LOL. Kesha and Ri Ri…not so much. Heh.

But then again, Taylor Swift rakes in massive tour dough. So there’s that. :D

  23. I saw on twitter that AWM should get 3 automatic Hot AC adds on Monday

    this is encouraging :D

i saw a twit saying that a radio station answered that they wouldn’t add AWM because they are not in ‘christian rock’! WTF?! I dont see anything ‘christian’ in this song. Wait, do they need coarse language, sex and violence in the songs for them to add? Maybe they are just bigoted the other way around which is sad

well done for Daughtry; that are good stats for him

  24. Thanks Hazehel for the info on LLWD being certified–yay! That makes 1 down from the wiki list and 5 to go!

ETA: Someone has already updated LLWD on the wiki list! Oops, now there are 7 left to be certified platinum. Come on, labels, get on it!

Thanks, Hazhel! How did that slip by us?

Mtlfan, that’s sort of hilarious that that station thinks ‘Alright With Me’ is Christian Rock. Yes, nothing says Christian more to me than a guy stalking some girl. Or does he mean they won’t play music from anyone who is Christian? Pretty bigoted, don’t you think?

  26. Yep! I don’t know if they report or not. The photo above looks great. I haven’t been there since they did major renovations, it was kind of a dump.

LOL – indeed it was. The renovation is truly amazing. There are real bathrooms now! Serioulsy, the place looks great.

I have no idea if the old management used to report Box scores, but Jannus Live now has a new owner so perhaps they’ll start(?).

ETA: The renovation actually made the venue able to hold more people, but it’s still pretty small as far as concert venues go. They’re claiming the max to be about 1700 now. (Or, is that size kind of medium? I don’t have good perspective since we have so many large venues here).

  28. WWFM has around 25K in Remix sales units that are not usually in Brian’s numbers. When you add those in, it moved up to #10 on Idol list a couple of weeks ago.

Today’s report include all WWFM song sales.

HAC certainly seems like the route for both Lee and Kris.

IF they release SW in the US, I imagine it will be 11/2/10 (Adam is back in LA) or no later than LA. And I think that that would be an HAC focus too. And I guess we’ll see what they did for the radio edit of SW in Canada on 10/25/10 — hard to imagine they would release it at 4:23 even in Canada.

  30. FYE looks like it’s getting very close to falling off the BB200 so this could be last week for album numbers. I’m interested in the SW radio edit because the song is way too long for U.S. radio.

Yep- it does seem that just because Kris is a Christian – they won’t play AWM on this station. You won’t hear big uproars about this bigotry though -as at the moment its not controversial to snub Christians apparently!!

Thanks Hazehel for the news about LLWD being certified – finally!!

Yeah, it does look like FYE is finally going to drop out of the BB200 after almost a year. That is a very good run, particularly for the guy who finished second on AI and considering that the winner was on the BB200 less than two months, I think.

  33. Yeah LLWD, congrats Kris !
You sold that song so well on every concerts and radio promo. Great job !!

  34. the winner was on the BB200 less than two months, I think.

No. I think it was more like 4 months (end of March).

  35. 3 Pop spins for AWM now, along with the ones it’s getting on Hot AC. Evidently some station(s) said they won’t spin it because they don’t play Christian rock??? WTH — in what universe is that song christian rock?

  36. girlygirl- The only station that I know that said it is some tiny station that is not even acknowledge by mediabase and they clearly didn’t even listened to the song.

No. I think it was more like 4 months (end of March).

I was not sure – that is why I put “I think.” Thanks for the correction. In any event, it sure was a lot less than the time that FYE has spent in the BB200.
