EW Exclusive: Kris Allen performs a ‘reggae’ acoustic ‘No Boundaries’

Lucky for me (and for all of us, really), Kris and his buddy Cale Mills started noodling around on their guitars, and before I knew it, they’d begun an acoustic-reggae rendition of the much maligned Idol victory anthem “No Boundaries.” Yeah, there’s still that line about weathering the hurricane, but — and I am shocked to say this in public — the Kara DioGuardi-penned ditty doesn’t sound too bad!

Concert review: Carrie Underwood soars at Oklahoma City’s Ford Center

In more ways than one, Carrie Underwood soared back into her home state Wednesday night.

Whether cruising above the audience in a flying pickup truck or sending her voice into the rafters as she nailed the big notes, the two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year dazzled the sold-out crowd at Oklahoma City’s Ford Center with a nearly two-hour performance.

Wednesday’s stop on her blockbuster “Play On Tour” was the 2005 “American Idol” winner’s first headlining appearance in the Oklahoma City arena. She last played the Ford Center as part of the 2007 Oklahoma Centennial Spectacular; she also opened for Brad Paisley at a November 2006 concert in the venue.

Anoop Desai in Atlanta for BMI showcase concert

Anoop said he moved to Los Angeles last year in October. “I didn’t really fit in there, ” he said. “Maybe I thought I was something I wasn’t. I had this idea in my mind what I should be doing when I really hadn’t put the work in yet.”

So he moved back to Chapel Hill, N.C. seven months later. He said he’s been far more productive since being back home. He’s assembled his manager, radio and publicity team. He put out his indie E.P.

But without label support, he knows how hard it is to get radio airplay. He has a single out “All is Fair, ” which is being played on a single station in Savannah.

Anoop is flying out to Los Angeles tomorrow morning to shoot a video for the song and record more tunes.

Dianna Agron Blogs About the GQ Glee Cover Controversy

I’d like to start by saying that these are solely my thoughts on the November issue of GQ and the controversy that has surrounded its release. I am not a representative of the three of us, the show, or Fox, only myself.

In the land of Madonna, Britney, Miley, Gossip Girl, other public figures and shows that have pushed the envelope and challenged the levels of comfort in their viewers and fans…we are not the first. Now, in perpetuating the type of images that evoke these kind of emotions, I am sorry. If you are hurt or these photos make you uncomfortable, it was never our intention. And if your eight-year-old has a copy of our GQ cover in hand, again I am sorry. But I would have to ask, how on earth did it get there?

‘Glee’ Exclusive: John Stamos was supposed to play Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the ‘Rocky Horror’ episode

It turns out, however, that guest star John Stamos, who plays the new squeeze of guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays), was originally going to tackle the naughty anthem. While speaking with EW last month about his recurring role on Glee, Stamos said of the Rocky Horror episode, “I was supposed to be doing ‘Sweet Transvestite, ’ but I think the network saw the script and was like, ‘Stamos in fish nets? It’s too soon!’” Stamos chuckles. “So they switched it up. I was bummed, because I wanted to play that part.” Indeed, if this leaked demo is to be believed, Stamos even recorded a version of the song.

Stamos instead donned a black leather jacket and straddled a motorcycle as ex-delivery boy Eddie, played in the film by Meat Loaf, for the song “Hot Patootie — Bless My Soul.”

Glee’s Naya Rivera ‘Was a Nerd’ In High School

It’s not a case of art imitating life for Glee star Naya Rivera, who plays devilish Cheerios cheerleader Santana on Fox’s hit show.

“In high school, I was most like Artie and Rachel. I knew what I wanted, like Rachel, although I wasn’t as obnoxious, ” Rivera – who made her onscreen debut at age 4 – tells Fitness magazine. “But like Artie, I was a nerd, always trying to fit in and get my hair to lie flat.”
