Idol Sales News – Week Ending 09/07/14

Maroon 5, fronted by Voice Judge Adam Levine, has their second number one album this week with an estimated 160K in sales. Bob Marley and the Wailers should be 5th thanks to a 99 cent sell at Google Play. You may remember that after Lady Gaga raked in the big numbers with Amazon’s 99 cent sell that Billboard changed the rules about deeply discounted albums. They must cost at least $3.99 in order to be counted, but that rule only applies to albums in their first 4 weeks. Bob’s sales will count.

Over on the digital chart, it is between Taylor Swift and Meghan Trainor for the top of the chart. “Shake it Off” led for most of the week, but “All About the Bass” took over for the latter part (after one of those Fallon performances where they play the child instruments). Meaghan may finally top the Hot 100 because her airplay gains have been stunning, her sales are 1 or 2 and the streaming numbers are higher than Taylor’s (keep this up, Meghan, and I sense a song about you in your future).

Reality singing show contestants? Things are looking pretty grim these days.

This is the weekly sales thread. Please post numbers as you find them. Thanks!
