Kellie Pickler on the Kardashians and Reality Show Anxiety – As Kellie Pickler gears up to begin filming her new CMT reality series (tentatively titled I Love Kellie Pickler) the bubbly singer, Dancing With the Stars champ and former American Idol contestant sat down with Rolling Stone Country to talk about the newest chapter of her life. “It’s exciting to let people into that part of our world,” Pickler says about the project. “You have to have boundaries, of course. There has to be things you keep for yourself, but my life has pretty much been an open book since I was 19. People know a little of my story, but they don’t know all of it.” – Read more at Rolling Stone

A SAVVY KELLIE PICKLER SET TO HEADLINE NAPERVILLE RIBFEST – But while this quirky personality has allowed her to amass millions of adoring fans, Pickler is becoming increasingly known for a keen business sense. From her new home decor collection called “Selma Drye by Kellie Pickler,” inspired by her great-grandmother, to starring in the “early stages” of a new reality series produced by “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest, Pickler has found a way to make some impressive business moves of late. “I have a creative brain, and these sorts of projects help me feed that hunger,” says Pickler, who was recently awarded the Operation Troop Aid Chris Kyle Patriot Award for her continued support of the U. S. Armed Forces and their families. “Especially in today’s world, it’s all about one’s brand. You don’t have to limit yourself in doing just one thing. Things can get monotonous doing the same thing every day anyway.” – Read more at the Chicago Sun Times

As much as anything, it was a survival mechanism for the ideas myself and a few others had. We were disgusted with the way things were being done around us. So if we took our own strategy of how we were building up the most successful promotion departments, how could that not work when we took that same culture to an entire label? – Read more at Hits Daily Double

Rock opera ‘Deep Love’ takes the long road to NYC – There’s not much to do in eastern Idaho in the winter. It’s freezing, windy and depressing. Why not create a musical? Stay-inside weather — plus a healthy dose of heartache — helped spark the creation in 2009 of “Deep Love: A Ghostly Rock Opera.” Six years later it arrives in steamy on 42nd Street in New York City, a snowball’s throw from Broadway. The show is the creation of Garrett Sherwood, Ryan J. Hayes and Jon Peter Lewis, three artistic guys with little musical theater experience who shaped and grew it into one of the highlights of the New York Musical Theatre Festival. – Read more at The Denver Post

Joshua Davis: More than just a voice on ‘The Voice’ – But there’s much more to this Marquette native (and MSU alum) then a goosebump-inducing cover of Simon & Garfunkel. He has been writing, recording and touring for more than a decade, with three solo albums to his credit as well as fronting the Lansing-based roots ensemble Steppin’ In It. Davis spoke to the Free Press about life after “The Voice.” It turns out he’s grateful for the opportunity and what the show’s attention has meant to his touring schedule, but he’s doubly appreciative of his home state’s music scene — the one that’s been there for him all along. – Read more at The Detroit Free Press
