Before 17-year-old Brackensick hit the stage at the HP Pavilion, he sat down with me backstage for a quick chat. He talked with me about being home and performing in front of his hometown crowd, his thoughts on Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez leaving the show, and his advice for season 12’s contestants. – Read more at BlogCritics.org

Aerosmith Reacts to Steven Tyler Leaving ‘American Idol’ – Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton says singer Steven Tyler’s decision to quit his side gig as an American Idol judge was a relief to the band. “The thing is, it turned out to be quite a demand on his time,” Hamilton said in an interview with Classic Rock magazine. He added that the show became a bone of contention in band meetings. “The whole plan of how we were going to deal with Idol is something we hammered out last year. It almost got to the point of using real hammers,” he said. – Read more at Hollywood Reporter

‘Not my cup of tea’: Tyler opens up about Idol gig – The singer quit the show after two seasons earlier this month – a day before fellow judge Jennifer Lopez followed him out the door – and he is now admitting he only agreed to sit alongside J.Lo and Randy Jackson for the cash, and to give his bandmates the chance to calm down after he announced plans for a hiatus. “It was something to do while the storm blew by, to be honest … not my cup of tea,” he tells Rolling Stone magazine. – Read more at WAToday

Former ‘Idol’ Kimberley Locke wants judge’s chair – Kimberley Locke wants to fill that vacant judge’s chair on “American Idol.” The season two finalist feels having a former contestant on the show can bring renewed interest to the popular TV singing competition. “I would love to sit in that chair and, you know, give some advice from the contestant’s standpoint because I’ve been on that stage and I know what it’s like,” Locke said Monday in an interview with The Associated Press. But don’t consider her a pushover. Locke says she would be brutally honest about each performance and “give it with no fluff.” – Read more at The News Tribune

Sheryl Crow Granted Temporary Restraining Order Against Phillip Gordon Sparks – LOS ANGELES — A judge has granted Sheryl Crow a temporary restraining order against a man who is accused of threatening to shoot the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter. The order requires Phillip Gordon Sparks, 45, to stay 100 yards away and not attempt to contact Crow, her family or any of her workers. She wrote in a sworn statement that she is fearful of Sparks because he has claimed in profane online tirades that she has stolen money from him and broken into his house. She also states Sparks recently went to the offices of an entertainment union and told a worker that he was going to “just shoot” her. – Read more at Huffington Post

Dancing With the Stars All-Star Bristol Palin Defended by Derek Hough: “Good for Her!” – “Unfortunately with the Palin drama and crazy entertainment it’s brought to the United States, I suppose it comes with the territory,” Hough, 27, told me at the Dizzy Feet Foundation’s Celebration of Dance gala at L.A.’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
