Sound Check: Phillip Phillips feeling the sophomore pressure – “Anybody who says they don’t (feel pressure), they’re lying,” Phillips notes. “So I definitely felt it a little bit, but I kept in mind that I wanted to show people more of me, more of my personality and the music and the lyrics. I wanted to write the right singles for me; it couldn’t just be bubble-gum pop. It took us some time, but I’m really proud of every song on this album, single or not.” – Read more at Oakland Press

Kellie Pickler Q&A – Your live shows let audiences see you in person, and connect on a more intimate level than the way people see you on television. I love when we are able to break things down, make things more simple and do our own concert. It’s a longer set, obviously, so we can do 75-90 minutes, which is a lot different. I love the intimate setting, I love being able to tell stories in between songs, explain how songs came about. It makes it more personal, and people get me to know me better as a person. – Read more at Diablo Magazine
Talking To Chris Daughtry About His Tour, Why He Doesn’t Gamble And Who Pranks Each Other On The Road – Chris Daughtry from Daughtry called in to the studio! He was in South Carolina getting ready to go take the stage last night… I stole a few seconds to talk about his upcoming tour date in the Bay (July 21 Mountain Winery in Saratoga!) and the extreme conditions under which they just shot the video for “Battleships.” We also touched on why he doesn’t gamble AND whether or not he and the Goo Goo Dolls or Plain White Ts will pull pranks on each other on this tour. (His answer made me laugh!)

‘Voice’ tour: Christina Grimmie thrilled, shocked – “Voice” mentor Adam Levine offered to sign you to his label. Where does that stand? We’re not exactly sure yet. We’re talking to several labels. Any idea how soon we might see an album from you? My goal is as soon as possible. That’s always been my thing. It never happened with my last albums. It took forever to put them out. Now there is no time to waste. I want to go on tour — even during tour to get a single out. Maybe by Christmastime I’ll have something. – Read more at Orlando Sentinel
ABC’s ‘Rising Star’ has Nashville contestants – But some new Nashvillians are also taking the “Star” challenge tonight: the teenage guys of Beyond 5, a pop quintet that’s not unlike current “boy band” sensations One Direction and The Wanted. The group’s Ammon Tuimaualuga says they aim to stand out from the crowd. “We want to show people that we’re different from other boy bands, and we’re not all about fame,” he says. “It’s not about solos and how you look. We’re really focused on our harmonies. We want to just make great music.” – Read more at The Tennessean
