Celebrity artists added to Songbook Hall of Fame celebration – ‘American Idol’ Jessica Sanchez, Broadway star Laura Osnes, pianist Peter Cincotti & vocalist Denzal Sinclaire will perform. An “American Idol,” a Broadway star and a Canadian virtuoso have joined the entertainment lineup for the Encore Gala Weekend presented by Krieg DeVault. The June 20-21 benefit for the Center for the Performing Arts also serves as the setting for the third annual Great American Songbook Hall of Fame induction. Nat King Cole, Linda Ronstadt, Shirley Jones, and Johnny Mathis represent the 2014 class of the Great American Songbook Hall of Fame. Kermit, Miss Piggy join ‘A Capitol Fourth’ on PBS – Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will be celebrating red, white and blue with television viewers across the country on the Fourth of July. The Muppets are joining the parade of stars lined up for the 34th annual broadcast of A Capitol Fourth on PBS. American Idol’s Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips also has been added to the list of acts. He will perform Raging Fire from his current album, Behind the Light. – Read more at USA Today

American Idol’s Ruban Studdard preaches gospel of good health – “First, you have to admit that you have a problem,” said Studdard, who compared the decision to go on a diet to becoming a Christian. “In coming to the Lord, first you have to confess your sins. It is the same process and I am so thankful that I have been able to do that for myself.” In an interview following his speech, Studdard said there have been many benefits to loosing weight, especially when it comes to travel: “Getting on an air plane and not having to ask for a seat belt extension is a blessing. Adam Lambert: Prepping for Queen Tour ‘Has Been a Blast’

“It’s kind of like a little sampler of our big arena tour that we’re about to kick off on Thursday in Chicago.” explains Adam. “We’re kind of putting the highlights together for the audience tonight. The rehearsal process has been a blast. Getting back onstage with these guys has been really good. The first time we did this in front of a big, big, big audience, I was trembling in my boots a little bit,” he admits. “Now it feels like we’re really, really one jelled unit. We’ve done this now, all the nerves are out. What’s good about that when we get onstage, we want to do it better every time. It kind of raises the game.”

Zendaya to Star in Lifetime’s Aaliyah Biopic – Singer-actress Zendaya is set to star in Lifetime’s original movie “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B” (working title) about the life of the late actress and R&B artist Aaliyah, who died in a plane crash in 2001. Zendaya will record four of Aaliyah’s songs for the film, based on the bestseller “Aaliyah: More Than a Woman” by former Time Magazine music editor Christopher Farley. Zendaya was runner-up to Kellie Pickler on Dancing with the Stars 16 in Spring 2013

Exclusive: ‘Bachelorette’ Andi Dorfman resigns from Fulton County district attorney’s office – Although the Fulton County District Attorney’s office gave Andi Dorfman an opportunity to come back after her three-month stint on “The Bachelorette,” she has decided to resign instead. Back in the spring, she was granted a leave of absence with Fulton County DA Paul Howard giving her the option to return. In the letter he sent her in February (received by TMZ), he called her request “unusual” but nonetheless cleared it. Her leave was unpaid but she had until May 31 to get back to work. When June arrived, she considered asking for another leave of absence through December, according to a story last week in the Daily Report. But ultimately, she decided to just leave, said Howard’s chief of staff Marla Robinson. – Read more at AJC
