Voting opens to choose NH native’s ‘American Idol’ performance – “American Idol” has asked New Hampshire to help choose the song that Mont Vernon’s Alex Preston will sing if he makes it to the Top 3 performance May 14. Gov. Margaret Hassan posted a poll to her Facebook page to help decide between “Story of My Life” by One Direction or “A Team” by Ed Sheeran. Voting ends Monday, May 5 at 12 p.m. (I’m assuming this is true of all the remaining finalists) – WMUR.com

Let’s just Dream Away – Minneapolis native and current Nashville resident Caitlyn Smith has fast become one of my favourite solo female country vocalists. Currently best known as one of the songwriters with Brett James’ Cornman Music/Stage Three Music Inc. Caitlyn has written hits such as Cassadee Pope’s Wasting All These Tears, Danielle Bradbury’s Heart Of Dixie and Rascal Flatts’ Let It Hurt. There’s rumours you’ve been writing with Carrie Underwood, can you confirm or deny? I don’t know what I can say! I’m not actually sure what the rule is with that…but yeah! I would say yeah, I think you can say that! They’re just a little bit shh in her camp I feel like. She’s so great by the way and she’s a phenomenal writer. There’s a lot of artists that you’ll write with and they’re good, they’ve got some ideas but they need a little nudging but she’s a real writer man, she’s really really great. – Read more at Hitting All the Right Notes

‘The Voice’: Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Call Simultaneous Coaching ‘Serendipitous’ (Video) – “I’m trying to pinch myself — is this really happening?” Stefani said of her future spinning chair. Williams added of their onscreen reunion, “It’s magical, it’s serendipitous. We’ve always had a special connection, and it was always through music that we recognized each other’s admiration and the depths [that] there was such potential.” Williams will replace Cee Lo Green, while Stefani will step in for Christina Aguilera, who is set to return for season 8. Williams said of his intended coaching strategy, “My advice is always gonna have a consistent thread of, ‘Be you — if it doesn’t work for this show, that’s okay,’ … You’ll see what Gwen and I do — we’re gonna take a slightly different approach. All we’re gonna do is hold up the mirror and show people how rad they are already.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Peta Murgatroyd’s DWTS Blog: ‘This Week Is a Lot for James’ – We’ve got two dances this week, so it’s kind of crazy. The first one is the Viennese Waltz, and I am absolutely loving this. It’s so beautiful and romantic, and it’s such a nice change from that sexy samba last week. Fans wanted fun and sexy, and they definitely got that. I think that dance is about as sexy as it’s going to get for us this season. It’s nothing that has never been done before. Shirt rips happen all the time on Dancing with the Stars, and garter belts get worn all the time. – Read more at TV Guide
