Nick Lachey Records Duet with American Idol Judge

Forget Simon! New American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi is the one getting all the attention.

The singer-songwriter recorded a duet for Nick Lachey’s upcoming album, Coming Up For Air.

“She and I wrote it together, ” Lachey told Access Hollywood Friday. “Initially, just in the studio, we thought, ‘All right, let’s sing it together and then we’ll maybe find someone else to be on it, ‘ but she did such a great job on it.”

His track with the fourth Idol judge is called “Temporary, ” and Lachey said they both had a great experience producing the song.

Conway Man Makes Top 75 in American Idol

We first told you last week about a UCA student who made it to Hollywood on American Idol. Well, good news for 23 year old Kris Allen. Last night, he made it to the top 75.

Friends of Allen expect him to go far in the competition. They say the excitement continues to rise, as Allen continues to shine on the show.

“He has a huge support system. He’s been a great friend and he’s extremely humble. Everyone loves him to death, ” Carrie Bowen, a Kris Allen fan said.

Bikini girl Katrina Darrell says she’s not ‘just some fluke in a bikini’

Katrina Darrell, 20, famously known for making out with Ryan Seacrest in a bikini during her …American Idol audition, didnt make it past Hollywood week. Few are surprised, including Darrell, who nevertheless nothing but optimistic for what coming next. (In her case, that means offers from Playboy, FHM and some stint in Las Vegas.) She also already accumulated more than 4, 100 friends on MySpace.

Archuleta acts (sort of)

During David Archuleta’s run on “American Idol” last season, the Utah teen came in for quite a bit of unwarranted criticism.

Refusing to believe that he could possibly be as humble and emotional as he appeared, the cynics claimed he was acting.

And now we have absolute, irrefutable proof that Archuleta wasn’t acting on “American Idol.”

He has an acting role on tonight’s episode of Nickelodeon’s “iCarly.” And he can’t act.

Vulture Predicts the Winners of Next Year Grammys

Well, the Grammys are this weekend and we’re vaguely excited, sort of! In addition to a bunch of not-bad performances, Sunday night’s ceremony will feature the hippest slate of nominees in recent memory: Lil Wayne! M.I.A.! Radiohead! Estelle! Wait a minute, though ‘  didn’t those artists all release their albums in like, 1987? Yes! Thanks to the Grammys’ early-closing eligibility window (to qualify for a nod, CDs must be released by the end of September*), most of the records competing for top awards are ones we stopped listening to over a year ago. And the ones we’ve been listening to for the past four months can’t win anything until next February. So which artists will take home the top awards in 2010? After the jump, we speculate.

Jennifer Hudson Ready ‘To Get On With Her Life, ‘ Says Clive Davis

“She’s coped internally. She’s coped with her family, ” Sony Music’s chief creative officer said. “I’m sure she’s coped within her religion. I was there at the funeral. I think that she has … to dig down deep, because this has been an indescribable tragedy.”

Davis also said that he and Hudson have talked in-depth about the tragedy. He said she’s ready to get back to work, which includes going on a spring tour and releasing a new music video for “If This Isn’t Love.”

“Through the dialogue we’ve had over this period, she knows she’s got to get on with her life, ” Davis said. “She knows that she’s dedicated to making her family, especially her mother, proud of her.

Jennifer Hudson’s Brave Return

Jennifer Hudson is back in the …Spotlight.

A few months after a horrible family tragedy, Hudson rehearsed yesterday afternoon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for tomorrow night Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy gala.

Hudson sang her hit …Spotlight twice, once for practice and then again for TV camera crews who were shooting background material for interviews theyd already taped with Davis.

Antico, Gale, Bojtos, Pfrogner and More Will Join DeGarmo in Oz, the Musical

As previously announced, Diana DeGarmo, the “American Idol” finalist who made her Broadway debut in Hairspray, will star as Dorothy in a limited tour of Oz, the Musical, which is described as a “contemporary musical twist” on L. Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”

Written, directed and choreographed by Todrick D. Hall, the musical is scheduled to launch Feb. 7-8 at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas, TX. Other Texas tour dates include Feb. 13-14 at the Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium in Fort Worth, Feb. 17 at the Jefferson Theatre in Beaumont, Feb. 21 at the Hippodrome Theatre in Waco and Feb. 28 at the Selena Auditorium in Corpus Christi.

On set with Theo Tams

Canadian Idol winner Theo Tams is gearing up for the release of his debut album and just wrapped up a photo shoot with famed Canadian photographer Andrew MacNaughton.

“Eight months ago I was a university student living in southern Alberta and now the album comes out and it’s a completely different life, ” Tams told CTV’s etalk.

Since his Idol win last September, Tams has been busy touring with fellow runner-ups Mitch MacDonald and Drew Wright on the Top 3 tour and writing tracks for his debut album.

“We’ve been recording a single, which is going to be out soon, ” said Tams.
