Crystal Bowersox has had quite a year. She placed second on the ninth season of ‘American Idol, ‘ tied the knot with musician Brian Walker and released her debut album, ‘Father’s Daughter.’ But she’s taking it all one day at a time, and she’s out to prove she’s not just another cookie-cutter ‘Idol’ winner. Alabama notables share their holiday memories

‘Zat you, Santa Claus?

“I guess you could say that I was a tree hugger. I knew if I hung around the tree, something magical would happen at Christmas. The closer I was to the tree, the quicker I would receive gifts. … I also remember how I found out Santa wasn’t real. My Dad used to do the Santa photos at Brookwood Village every year, where my grandmother worked, and I hung around there a lot. I watched Santa get dressed and undressed every afternoon before going to the arcade. When my Dad finally told me he’d been eating all those cookies I’d been making for Santa every year, well, … I’d already gotten a dose of how fake Santa could be.”

‘American Idol’ is about to rattle your TV habits

“American Idol is surely set to come back to the pack in terms of ratings, ” said Jeffrey McCall, a professor of media studies at DePauw University and author of “Viewer Discretion Advised: Taking Control of Media Influences.”

“No show can maintain craze status indefinitely. The show had signs of weakness last year and the downward trend is likely to continue, ” McCall said. “The loss of Simon [Cowell] alone gives viewers a sense that the decline is upon us.”

Still, it’s hard to count out the program that has topped the Nielsen ratings for an unprecedented six straight seasons.

But if you follow the ratings, you know Glee is bigger than ever, and the casting of Agron looks like a great move.

But let me back up a second. If you’ve been reading Collider, you know we’ve been covering I Am Number Four since the project was first announced. But with DreamWorks releasing a brand new trailer and a release date fast approaching (February 18, 2011), I recently got to attend a long lead press day with the cast and after the jump you can read or listen to my roundtable interview with Dianna Agron.
