Anoop Desai on Michael Jackson, American Idol

Anoop Desai, who first came to our attention on season eight of American Idol, is full of surprises. On first glance, one wouldn’t expect this UNC-graduate to possess such an effortlessly smooth voice, but he does. Since leaving Idol, he’s been on his grind, releasing music and taking up producing and songwriting. We recently had the chance to sit down with Anoop Dogg (as AI’s Randy Jackson coined him) to chat about the hardships of breaking into the music industry Post-Idol, bringing back the fidelity of the human voice, songwriting, Idol, and his upcoming mixtape Zero, which is currently scheduled for release early next year.

The Importance of Beating Idol

SIMON COWELL really means business in his quest for new judges on American X Factor. He has already tapped up ROLLING STONES lord MICK JAGGER and is now after NOEL GALLAGHER.

The ex-OASIS guitarist got a call last week with news of interest from bosses on X Factor USA. Simon wants a huge name and securing the Manc’s sharp-tongued services for next year’s show would be a coup. X Factor fan Noel is mulling over the offer.

A source said: “Simon wants to go one better than American Idol, who have AEROSMITH frontman STEVE TYLER, and has set his heart on British rock ‘n’ roll royalty – with Noel and Mick top of his shopping list.

Hello Sun! Noel Gallagher is NOT a big star in the US…

Michael Johns – Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree

The Edmonton Singing Christmas tree is back bigger and better than ever. And organizers have adopted as its theme, Bing Crosby’s seasonal chestnut I’ll Be Home for Christmas.

Now in its 41st season, this two-hour-plus variety show extravaganza has grown from an original church offering to a Broadway scale production hosted at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium from Dec. 17 to19.

As well, the run’s five shows also feature a 20-piece orchestra and guest members of David Foster’s Band — Boh Cooper (keyboard), John Jr. Robinson (drummer) and Nathan East (electric bass). In addition, American Idol competitor Michael Johns drops by for a Dean Martin style croon of Winter Wonderland.

Glee’s Jane Lynch on Ed O’Neill, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Return and More

“Of course!” Jane deadpans. “I do the best Michael Jackson in the cast, and I’m the best dancer.” Then she breaks with a laugh: “I’m not going to be in ‘Thriller.’ That’s for the people who are entitled for that kind of thing.”

Jokes aside, Jane promises this for the Super Bowl episode: “It’s a huge extravaganza and it’s off the wall and for those fans who will be watching our show for the first time, they’re going to get a lot.”

X Factor: ITV tell Simon Cowell to cut the sleaze after this series draws 5, 000 complaints

Simon Cowell has been warned by ITV chiefs to “cut the sleaze” after this year’s X Factor ended as it began: mired in scandal.

Ofcom has received more than 5, 000 complaints throughout the series and tens of thousands ranted online, making it the most criticised show in ITV history.

Saturday’s show alone attracted 2, 000 complaints over Christina Aguilera’s X-rated performance, and Sunday’s final featured former contestant Chloe Mafia, who was outed as a coke-snorting call girl.

Britain’s Got Talent: what will David Hasselhoff and Michael McIntyre bring to the judges’ table?

And then there are the new judges themselves. At this point in time, Hasselhoff is surely most famous for that video of him topless and drunk and unable to eat a hamburger off the floor while his daughter pleads with him to stop drinking, which isn’t particularly amusing. And then there’s McIntyre, a man whose sole contribution to humanity thus far is the term “man-drawer”. Give it a few weeks and they’ll be competing for Simon’s attention like Cheryl and Dannii, turning up each week in their best party frocks and arguing over who gets to sit next to him.
