NEWSMAKER Q & A: TYLER GRADY
This year has been an exciting one for Nazareth singer Tyler Grady. He started it last January by becoming the first Lehigh Valley resident to make it to the final 24 contestants on Fox-TV’s “American Idol.” Then a week ago, at the 12th annual Lehigh Valley Music Awards, he won Best All-Around Performer and Best Male Vocalist, and his band, Wailing Waters, was chosen Best New Artist/Band. Grady, 20, is the subject of this week’s Q & A.
Q. The next season of “American Idol” starts Jan. 19. Is it in your thoughts very much?

Dermot O’Leary’s leaving X Factor and Simon Cowell may also be heading for the exit after this season’s final show
Dermot O’Leary is quitting The X Factor – and Simon Cowell is also expected to make his final appearance on the programme tonight.
O’Leary is hoping to land the same role as host of the show on the upcoming X Factor USA. He is likely to be replaced on the British version by comedy star James Corden.
In a major shake-up of the programme, Cowell is unlikely to appear on both shows and will instead concentrate on launching the American version next year.

X Factor winner calls Simon Cowell a ‘leech’ who cashes in on pop wannabes
HE had the world at his feet. Six years ago Steve Brookstein was crowned the first-ever X Factor winner.
The velvet-voiced southerner scooped a staggering six million votes in the grand final. A major label record deal, a luxury lifestyle and stadium concerts lay ahead of him.
But as the latest set of X Factor hopefuls hit the headlines and battle to be the winner of this year’s show, the 42 year-old crooner is not doing as well as he dreamed.
Instead of playing sell-out shows at the O2 Arena, like former winner Leona Lewis, he is touring COFFEE BARS.
“Simon Cowell is a leech, ” he said. “He gets himself onto records as co-writer. Then he demands 20 per cent of the profits of anything that appears on his show.
