American Idol’s Haley Reinhart Dishes on Her Upcoming Album: Exclusive!

“From day one, I knew I was meant to do this,” she told us at the 4th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting at L.A. LIVE & Opening of L.A. Kings Holiday Ice. “So I have a lot of faith now, that third place or ninth or first, whatever it might be, I’ll do everything in my will and power to get to where I want to be and have my music touch people and start touring. It will be amazing.”

Haley, who was signed to Interscope Records shortly after finishing the competition, is now hard at work on her first album.

“I’m working my tail off,” she admits. “I like being a part of the writing process, and they’re starting to understand that I want to be really hands on with everything. So I’m totally, utterly and completely in the process of making everything. I’m in the studio just about every day with different writers and producers and getting towards the end of the making of the album. My debut will be out beginning of next year.”

The X Factor’s Astro: “I’m Gonna Be Worldwide!”

TV Guide Magazine: You wrote a lot of original lyrics to songs you performed. What was the process like with your mentor, L.A. Reid?
Astro: If they didn’t let me rewrite the songs then I would’ve dropped out a long time ago. Basically I had to fight for that right a little bit to be able to rewrite the songs, but it worked out in my favor. And L.A., he understood me more than most of any of the other judges, than all of the other judges, actually. He let me write my stuff, he let me be me, and I respected that. We picked all the songs together. Some days we’d sit in a room and pick a song. Other days he’d have the song ready and I’d just write it. A lot of times he’d ask for changes, I’d change my verses a few times but it came out great each time so I didn’t have a problem.

‘X Factor’ Judge Simon Cowell ‘Pretty Cool’ To Astro

“Simon knows what he’s talking about. Everybody has different opinions, so I’m not always 100 percent agreeing with Simon, but it is what it is,” he told MTV News on Monday before giving the reality-show judge his props. “I don’t think he’s a jerk like they portray him on TV; he’s actually pretty cool.”

Throughout his run on “X Factor,” the Brooklyn rapper was criticized for his confident and at-times cocky attitude. Still, he isn’t too concerned with what others think. “Everybody has different opinions,” he said. “You can’t really control what this person thinks of your performance or what that person thinks.”

Steve Jones asks “X Factor” fans to chill out the hate

“Hopefully I will be back for season 2. If I’m back, I’ll be overjoyed. If I’m not. I’ll do something else. It’s as simple as that … It’s a dream job. I’d be back in a heartbeat for a second season,” Jones, 34, told reporters on a conference call.

As the U.S. version of “The X Factor” approaches its climax later this month, eliminations got heated last week when 14-year-old singer Drew Ryniewicz — a protege of British creator and judge Simon Cowell — was thrown out of the running for the $5 million prize and recording contract in a split decision by the four judges.

‘Glee’ cast talks Christmas episode at ‘New Year’s Eve’

Harry Shum Jr. said Gleeks can look forward to a whole lot more of Mr. Schue’s influence on the Dec. 13 episode. “My favorite part of it was actually Matt Morrison directing that,” said Harry Shum Jr. on the red carpet before joining Michele, Chris Colfer, Corey Monteith, Kevin McHale, Darren Criss and Mark Salling inside. “He was in the scene yelling ‘Action!’ and then (Shum mimics Morrison running around the camera) starting the scene, you were like, this is weird! And (then) him yelling ‘Cut!’ Shum laughed. “But he did an amazing job, and we’re so proud of him.”

Shum’s favorite moment from the episode? “(Morrison) did this really cool sequence that brings back to that old ’50s, ’60s variety programming. It’s going to be fun. We’re going to bring back what those variety shows brought and we’re going to Glee-ify it.”

‘Glee’ Cast: Changes in Store for 2012

Newcomer Damian McGinty told Billboard.com that the group, “just started filming episode 10, which is after Christmas.”

“The new semester is starting for us now,” he continued. “We’re kind of finding out as we get the script, so who knows what songs we might have.”

While McGinty might not know his musical future, co-star Dianna Agron revealed that she just got word on a new number that she described as “a really exciting song I never thought I’d be singing.” She was reluctant to spill further info, only going as far as confirming it wasn’t a Broadway number or a country tune.
