Children’s Annual Holiday Parade Draws 400, 000

The weather was perfect Saturday morning as an estimated 400, 000 people were up and out early for the 23rd Annual Children’s Medical Center Parade.

Aside from entertaining the parade watchers, the parade raises money for healthcare issues for children and is expected to bring in nearly $500, 000 this year.

The parade was joined this year by American Idol favorite David Archuleta, who performed a concert Friday night benefitting Children’s at the Majestic Theater. Archuleta then joined the parade Saturday morning as it wound its way through downtown Dallas.

Ultrasonic Siobhan

“American Idol” songbird Siobhan Magnus is getting back to her roots.

The Cape Cod native and “Idol” Season 9 finalist performs with the 19-piece Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra on Dec. 12, the last date of the group’s three-night stand (Friday to Sunday) at the Regent Theatre in Arlington.

Magnus, 20, has been rehearsing in the URO’s cramped Somerville practice space. Along with 14 other vocalists, she gets to belt out the music she was raised on, songs by David Bowie, Queen, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. It’s a far cry from the restrained group sings of her “Idol” stint.

Ordway Center readies a large-scale “Joseph” starring “American Idol” finalist Anthony Fedorov.

When Anthony Fedorov was born in Ukraine 25 years ago, a defect in his windpipe made breathing difficult. At 2 weeks old, he underwent a tracheotomy, which involved an incision on the throat that could have affected his vocal cords. Given his trajectory since then, one wonders if the surgery somehow made him a better singer.

Fedorov, whose family immigrated to New York when he was 9, was an “American Idol” finalist four years ago just before his 21st birthday. He stars as the title character in the Ordway Center’s revival of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, ” which opens Tuesday in St. Paul.

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler shows some ‘Sweet Emotion’ to local woman with ALS: Michael K. McIntyre’s Tipoff

Susan Marshall cannot use her voice to speak and she cannot move her arms and legs due to the effects of Lou Gehrig’s disease, but she still made it clear that for her upcoming Bat Mitzvah – she’s having it later in life at 53 – she wants Steven Tyler of Aerosmith to perform.

Thursday, she got a call back. Tyler wanted to talk to Marshall. They arranged a call back in a half hour and the rock star – and new “American Idol” judge – was on the phone with Marhsall, through Gavanditti.

He told her that the sun shines on her every day and that she should be strong and be happy. She told him she wanted him to be at her Bat Mitzvah Sunday. No dice. He’s got a gig. But Gavanditti said the phone call made Marshall’s day.

“She just kept smiling and crying, ” she said.

Derek Hough: No Engagement for Sister Julianne – Yet

Julianne Hough and Ryan Seacrest spent a romantic holiday in the world’s most romantic city – Paris! – but don’t expect wedding bells just yet.

At least according to Julianne’s brother, Derek Hough – and he would know. “I haven’t heard anything [about an engagement] and I am sure I would have it if were true, ” he tells PEOPLE.

But if Seacrest, 35, were to pop the question to Julianne, 22, eventually, would her big brother approve? “I think she might be a little young, ” says the Dancing with the Stars champ. “But we are all very supportive, and as long as she is happy that is what matters.”

Efron, Hudgens to host US ‘X Factor’?

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are reportedly being lined up as hosts of the US version of The X Factor.

Simon Cowell has apparently decided that having three Brits on the show is too risky, meaning Dermot O’Leary will miss out on the presenting role after Cheryl Cole was allegedly offered a spot on the judging panel.

A source said: “There could only be Simon and an absolute maximum of one other Brit on the show. He wants that Brit to be Cheryl. Dermot will be completely distraught. He spent months in America lobbying to get this job.
