I caught up with opener Sons of Sylvia’s oldest trio member, mandolin-playing Adam Clark, outside after last night’s Carrie Underwood show, standing nondescriptly near his tour bus about 100 feet from where a group of Underwood fans waited anxiously for her to exit the venue.

“She’s not going to come out, ” he deadpans, watching the crowd with an amused smile. “She never does until all the fans leave.”

Matt Giraud made his debut on Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry radio show Tuesday night, appearing with local jazz singer Anna Wilson to perform their duet of You Don’t Know Me.

Today, Matt recorded a second version of You Don’t Know Me with Wilson. “It’s like a broken-down acoustic version of me and her sitting comfortably and recording it, ” he says. Tonight, he’ll go in the studio with producer Doug Grow to record a song for Matt’s forthcoming EP.

Matt has yet to set a release date for his EP but says, “I think we’re going to be getting a single out by Christmas — or at least by Valentine’s Day.”

BACKSTAGE: Locals interviewed for Lambert’s ‘True Hollywood Story’

“The producer, Michael Lynn, is very excited and passionate about the project and said the final production is wonderful, ” Leila Lambert said. “I was able to share so many videos and photographs that have never been released before, so I think it will be refreshing. I have spoken with many people who were interviewed, and they said it was so enjoyable talking about Adam and his success story.”

Also interviewed was Metropolitan Educational Theatre Network/MET2 producer Kathie Bretches-Urban, who first met Adam 17 years ago, when the then-redheaded, freckle-faced Rancho Penasquitos preteen started performing in her company’s youth theater productions in Poway. Bretches-Urban said she spent 90 minutes with the documentary crew last summer answering questions about her first impressions of the young Lambert.

Recording Artist Danny Gokey to Donate Old Eyeglasses to Raise Funds for Free Eye Exams and Glasses for Needy Children

GLENDALE, Wis., Nov. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — Since early October hundreds of Danny Gokey fans have donated used eyeglasses and non-perishable food items at Wisconsin Vision stores throughout the state. In exchange for their donation, today those fans get to meet Gokey, the 19/RCA Nashville recording artist and 2009 American Idol finalist, when he shows up to contribute his own used pairs of eyeglasses at Wisconsin Vision’s new Glendale location. Gokey’s glasses will then be auctioned online to raise funds for a new program announced today by Wisconsin Vision and Sophia’s Heart to provide free eye exams and glasses for children in need.

Wisconsin Vision will also present a $10, 000 contribution to Gokey for Sophia’s Heart, the non-profit organization Gokey founded in memory of his late wife Sophia to help mend and heal the hearts of children and families who have been touched by poverty, sickness, disease, broken families and broken dreams.

The Clear Days Ahead program is the first medical relief program for Sophia’s Heart. Each month Wisconsin Vision will auction several pairs of Gokey’s eyeglasses for the non-profit. The funds will help pay for reduced-rate eye exams provided by Wisconsin Vision optometrists. The optical company will then donate the needed lenses, frames and fabrications valued at more than $200 per pair. The Milwaukee Teachers Education Association will help screen and refer children eligible for the free exams and eyewear.

‘Dancing With the Stars’: Maks ‘never said’ he didn’t like Bristol Palin

Bristol Palin’s somewhat surprising victory over Brandy in the “Dancing With the Stars” semifinals might have seemed even more dramatic for viewers who read recent stories about bad blood between Palin and Brandy’s partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Maks spoke with press after his and Brandy’s elimination, and he thinks all the talk is a result of the persona he’s developed on the show.

“A lot of things just stick, ” Maks says. “Most recently, there’s Bristol saying that I didn’t like her. I never said that. I want people to understand that I’m just here as a dancer. That’s all I am.”

Kimmel Talks Conspiracy Theories with Brandy, Maks After ‘DWTS’ Cast-Off (VIDEO)

Jimmy Kimmel is outraged by America’s vote to eliminate Brandy Norwood and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy from ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ The pair had scored well all season and garnered their first perfect 30 the previous night. Meanwhile, Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas earned lower scores but remain in the competition.

On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ (weeknights, 12:05AM ET on ABC), the host tried to draw some anger out of Brandy, but she was very gracious, saying the experience had restored her confidence. “I believe more in myself now.” Kimmel countered, “This would destroy my confidence.”

Report: Man Shoots TV Over Palin Dance

A 67-year-old rural Wisconsin man enraged over Bristol Palin’s lack of skill on “Dancing with the Stars” blasted his television with a shotgun, leading to an overnight standoff with a SWAT team, according to the AP.

A Dane County Sheriff’s detective said Steven Cowan felt Palin was “not a good dancer and was only on the show because of her famous mother.”

Then Cowan shot his TV before turning the gun on his wife, who ran out and escaped.

SWAT officers surrounded the home and talked Cowan out Tuesday morning.
