Pizarro: ‘American Idol’ stars will help light up Santana Row

A pair of “American Idol” finalists from Northern California will entertain shoppers this month at Santana Row.

Thia Megia, who was winning singing contests in San Jose before she was a teenager, will help ring in the holidays Tuesday at “Light Up the Row,” the shopping center’s 10th annual tree lighting. Santa Cruz’s James Durbin will show up at the Row for Black Friday, Nov. 25, to sign copies of his new album at 10 a.m. before thrilling fans with an acoustic set at noon.

Both performances are taking place at the Row’s 40-foot-tall holiday tree, which is being set up this year near the giant chessboard in Santana Row Park instead of at Park Valencia in front of Maggiano’s Little Italy.

Josh Gracin Talks About Pain and Passion Found on New ‘Redemption’ Album

Josh Gracin‘s new album ‘Redemption’ is a colossal effort that’s over three years in the making. He describes it as his most personal album to date, a somewhat obvious assessment as he helped write all 17 songs. His previous record was three. One senses that musically and professionally the singer is just becoming comfortable with sharing his stories, his beliefs and his inner artist.

‘Enough’ is a song that Gracin says is the most revealing, yet when pressed to explain what or who it was about he avoids specifics. That’s fine, as fans learn plenty about what makes the 31-year-old tick on his first album with the very open-minded Average Joe’s Entertainment. He’s much more comfortable talking about the hero that inspired ‘Can’t Say Goodbye’ and how his time in the Marines shaped his country music career. In many ways, this project is a new beginning for the one-time ‘American Idol’ contestant.

POSTED: Kelly Clarkson Dishes On Broadway And Lady Gaga

Up first, Kelly dishes about heading to Broadway… someday. “I probably won’t [be on Broadway] any time soon, but I do want to do a show. And I’d like to do something fresh, something that hasn’t been out.” She adds, “I’d love to do a revival of something like ‘Funny Girl.’ I love Barbara Streisand or anything from Bette Midler.” Babs, Bette, and Kelly. Legend status.

In another clip, Kelly imagines a possible collabo with Lady Gaga. While she realizes that she and Mother Monster have somewhat different styles, their passion for music makes them a lot alike. She comfortably admits that if a cool song came along, she’d totally be down to working with her. If and when this happens, we will seriously explode. In a good way.

Exclusive Interview: Patrick Davis

5) I heard that you wrote with Casey James, the song called ‘So Sweet.’ What’s he like and how did that song come about?

PD: He’s a sweetheart. Really soft spoken and really kind and a southern gentleman. I’m not really an American Idol watcher, I’m not that familiar with the show and when people told me that he was on Idol and I didn’t really know much about him other than that. And we met and he’s a really great guitar player and a great singer and we sat down and myself and Dallas Davidson and Casey and we wrote a few songs. And ‘So Sweet’ is what we all felt like was the best of those that we wrote. I think it’s a great song and I think he even played it live at CMA Fest this year. That’s awesome and I know he has a song on the radio right now and hopefully that one will work out and we’ll see. I actually like ‘So Sweet’ and I play it live as well. We’ll see what happens. We have a few more that we’ll see what happens. There’s a couple of others that Casey and I have written, maybe he’ll record those too. We’ll have to wait and see.
