NC Music Hall of Fame preps for ceremony at Curb museum – The hall’s annual induction ceremony will be Oct. 16 at The Gem Theatre in Kannapolis. Tickets are available for the public ceremony, which will run 7:15-10 p.m. Inductees this year range from “American Idol” finalists Clay Aiken and Fantasia Barrino to the late Link Wray, a rock ’n’ roll guitarist credited as the inventor of the power chord. – Read more at the Charlotte Observer

Jennifer Hudson reflects on 10 years of fame – It’s been 10 years since Jennifer Hudson shot to stardom as a finalist on American Idol and she’s celebrating that anniversary by releasing a new album called JHUD. It “reflects my person on my own through my music for the very first time,” she says speaking from California, where she’s on a tour that will bring her to the Fallsview Casino theatre on Oct. 7 and 8. “I’m not saying I don’t believe in the songs I sang on my other albums,” the fast-talking Hudson quickly adds. “Oh no. Ellmers debates Aiken for US House district in NC – Incumbent Congresswoman Renee Ellmers meets Democrat and former pop singer Clay Aiken for a debate Monday in Pinehurst. They’re vying to represent the 2nd Congressional District. It’s a district shaped like an uneven U that includes Asheboro, Fayetteville, communities surrounding Fort Bragg and suburbs south and west of Raleigh. The hour-long debate before delegates to a North Carolina Bankers Association conference will be broadcast at 7 p.m. Monday on WRAL and at 11 p.m. on WRAZ Fox 50. Ryan Murphy Welcomes a Second Baby Boy Via Surrogate – Ryan Murphy has welcomed another baby boy! The genius creator behind Glee and American Horror Story confirmed to E! News that he had his second baby via surrogate Friday.”His name is Ford. I brought him home today from the hospital and Logan gave him kind of a side eye,” he exclusively told E! News at the American Horror Story: Freak Show premiere in Hollywood. “For 21 months, Logan has been the light of my life and now there are two.” Murphy and husband David Miller are already proud parents to an adorable baby boy named Logan. ‘SNL’ Denies Ripping Off Groundlings Sketch, Insider Says – “Saturday Night Live” is denying accusations that the show writers ripped off the sketch “River Sisters” from The Groundlings comedy troupe. An individual close to the show passed off the similarities between the “SNL” and Groundlings versions as mere coincidence. The individual told TheWrap that the “SNL” writers were unfamiliar with The Groundlings sketch in question. “It’s a common idea since Tina Turner is such an iconic figure,” the person said. “The similarities represent parallel thinking in the comedy world.” Also, the Groundlings sketch on YouTube that many are referencing — including the specific video post that we have embedded below — was uploaded on Sunday, the day after the “SNL” sketch aired.
