Kelly Clarkson, 29, says her footwear is a lot like her music: “There’s a little bit of everything!” She’s got the diva shoes, the Converse Chuck Taylors, the cowboy boots—but she likes performing in her bare feet. As for her musical mix of pop, country, R&B, and rock, the Texas native says, “I incorporate all those elements because, honestly, I’d get bored otherwise.” The first American Idol winner spoke to Kate Meyers about life on and off the road.

The next big thing: Santa Cruz’s Chris Rene follows a familiar path to pop stardom

SANTA CRUZ – A year ago, Chris Rene and James Durbin could have bumped into each other at any Halloween supply store and no one would have noticed them. They were just struggling young Santa Cruz dads with astounding if secret talents, as anonymous as the next guy in line at the cash register.

Now, of course, Durbin has been vaulted into stardom thanks to “American Idol” and Rene, as unlikely as it seems, is following in the path Durbin blazed. Rene, 28, is now in the spotlight as one of the top 12 performers in Fox’s “The X Factor,” created by the erstwhile “Idol” icon Simon Cowell.

Lauren Alaina Headlines Annual ‘Family Day’ Event in Nashville

Lauren Alaina took time out of her hectic schedule to headline and join in some of the kid fun at the annual Family Day event in Nashville, benefiting the T.J. Martell Foundation, on Saturday (Oct. 29).

Kids of all ages flocked to the Curb Event Center at Belmont University where they hopped in moon bounce castles, played various activities and went trick-or-treating at the candy-filled booths set up in the arena. Alaina herself couldn’t help but join in on some of the fun, as she popped up in the middle of a group of children dancing at one point during the day. Kids were also treated to complimentary ice cream from sponsor Baskin Robbins. Dunkin Donuts also let kids decorate their own pastries.
