Church-Backed ‘Meet the Mormons’ Rocks at Box Office – When you think Hollywood, you don’t normally think of the Mormon Church, but that changed this weekend. The documentary film “Meet the Mormons” — produced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — just missed the top ten nationally, taking in an estimated $2.7 million. It did that despite being in just 317 theaters and essentially missing out on Sunday business, when LDS church members typically refrain from going to the movies. Its per-screen average of $7,278 wasn’t far behind those of “Gone Girl” ($8,161) and “Dracula Untold” ($8,125). Former “American Idol” star David Archuleta, a devout Mormon, sang the track “Glorious” for the film. – Read more at The Wrap

Kellie Pickler entertains at Topsfield Fair – Country singer Kellie Pickler, of “American Idol” fame, was one of the entertainers at the Topsfield Fair over the weekend. While there, she took a pic with members of Troop A of the Community Action Team of the Massachusetts State Police. The Topsfield Fair runs through Monday. MIPCOM: ‘The X Factor UK’ Sells Worldwide – Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia International on Monday unveiled 147 territorial deals worldwide for the U.K. version of The X Factor. Terms of the licensing deals were not disclosed, but the international networks set to acquire ITV’s The X Factor UK include AXS in the U.S. market, MNET for pan-regional Africa, RTL CBS Asia Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television Networks for Latin America. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

MIPCOM: Simon Cowell Recalls Moment His TV Career Hung in the Balance – Simon Cowell on Monday recalled the moment when a lackluster first week debut for The X Factor UK in 2004 put his own reality TV producer career in peril. “Literally, I could feel a million knives about to go into my back,” the man behind One Direction said Monday at MIPCOM after being asked by Piers Morgan during a keynote interview to reveal his most significant career moment.
