Lauren Alaina talks about boys and dating

As for the dating thing, that’s an issue of timing. “I don’t really have time for boys, to be completely honest, ” says the 16-year-old Georgia singer, sitting in an office at her record company that overlooks downtown Nashville. After all, her debut album, Wildflower, comes out Tuesday. “I think boys are cute. I like to look at them. But any time a boy likes me, I don’t like him.” And vice versa. “I just don’t want to get sidetracked.”

Durbin-inspired benefit raises thousands for Santa Cruz Teen Center

SANTA CRUZ – In one sign of the positive impact James Durbin has on his hometown, a benefit for the Santa Cruz Teen Center sparked by the American Idol finalist raise thousands of dollars Sunday.

CruzaPalooza, held at the center’s home at Louden Nelson, included live bands that loaned their talents to the cause, including the well-known White Album Ensemble, plus the raffling of a Les Paul guitar autographed by Durbin.

Dancing with the Stars: Cher to Cheer on Chaz Bono

Last week, “she texted me right before Monday’s show and said, ‘I wanted people to be able to feel your presence and not take away from that and I think you’ve made your presence known now, ‘ ” Bono, 42, says.

“So I texted her back and I said, ‘Okay, so if I make it through this week that means you’ll come to Monday’s show?’ And she said, ‘Yes.’ ”

“It’s very exciting, ” Bono says, noting that “my mom and my stepmom Mary Bono Mack are coming, along with my aunt and uncle and my brother. It will be a real family affair.”

Dancing’s Chynna Phillips: I Had a Lot of Abandonment Issues and Turned to Drugs and Alcohol

That emotion really translated into your dance. Can you talk about the song’s significance to you?
Phillips: I wrote the song “Hold On” because of all the trials and tribulations I overcame. My relationship — or lack thereof — with my dad, really impacted me as a child. I had a lot of abandonment issues, and I just didn’t understand why I couldn’t have a father around like some of my other friends did. At the time, everyone was keeping me from the big secret: that my dad had this massive drug addiction. I felt so hurt and scarred on the inside, that I ended up turning to drugs and alcohol as a teenager, to put a bandage on my emotions. I didn’t know how to deal and that was just me trying to cope. Then I dropped out of school and it just wasn’t a good scene. Eventually I sort of pulled my life together and met Billy [Baldwin]. It was perfect timing to have met such an amazing man. I met him when I was 23 and have been with the guy for 20 years!
