We Are Heroes Wins ‘ABDC’

The all-girl crew beat out the ever-so-sexy Latino salsa group, Afroborike, on ‘Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew.’

‘ABDC’ has pulled all the stops when it came down to choosing the ‘crew-testants’ of season 4.

This year they broke boundaries as finally a crew won that wasn’t a b-boy group. The competition was fierce as both We Are Heroes and Afroborike had a lot at stake and were certainly no stranger to the bottom.

Adam Lambert’s Upcoming Album: Bigger Than The Beatles?

OK, I know that an inflammatory blog title like the one above might create an outcry not unlike the hubbub that ensued when the Beatles’ own John Lennon declared that the Beatles were bigger than God. But here’s a fact: Only a few hours after being listed on Amazon, Adam Lambert’s pre-orderable debut album is already at #2 on the site’s Bestsellers chart…above Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, fellow Simon Cowell-affiliated reality star Susan Boyle (whose own debut comes out the same day as Adam’s, November 24), and–yes–the Beatles.

Concert Review: Michael Johns and Brooke White live at Chop Suey, Seattle, Washington, 9/24/2009

The team up was Johns’ idea, who considers White his favorite of the female contestants he competed against in Idol’s seventh season. White admitted the audiences have been somewhat small, but always enthusiastic. Chop Suey was exactly the kind of club she enjoys playing, as the close quarters allow for much greater intimacy with the audience. Seeming to hold true to the pattern established in the six dates they had already played prior to Seattle, the club was far from packed but those in attendance appeared thoroughly entertained. Johns agreed that performing in this environment for his dedicated fans was want he values most.

Randy Jackson on ‘America’s Best Dance Crew, ‘ Ellen DeGeneres, and his rampant use of ‘for me, for you’

On the flip side of that, how about people who say that you rely too much on phrases like ‘ for me, for you’ or ‘aiight’ or ‘pitchy’ ? Does it bother you when people say that? And will you try to shake it up with regard to those critiques in season 9?
That’s just a sound bite they edit together. And you get stuck on the words ‘dawg’ and you get stuck on those things sometimes. But what it really is, if you really listen to what I say and not listen to the sound bite [compilation] that happens at the end of the season, when we’re at the finale and they’re making fun of us, that’s where that comes from by the way. You can string together any reporter saying ‘What, what, what, what, what’ a thousand times and it sounds funny. And it’s hard being the first one to speak, I’ve got to tell you. It’s hard to jump in first and give your critique, because you’ve got to jump in right away and do your thing. People have selective listening for the most part, but I think I actually say a lot of valuable, good things.

Cowell the $100M man

Simon Cowell is about to become the highest-paid star on TV.

The “American Idol” judge who fans love to hate has signed a deal worth more than $100 million a year to bring “X Factor” — his “Idol”-like show in Britain — to the United States, the Daily Mirror newspaper in London reported.

Cowell will produce, but not appear on, his American version of the show.

The deal will also extend his contract with “Idol” — which had been due to expire — another two years. In total, Cowell will reportedly make $103 million by next fall, according to the British newspaper.

Oprah remains TV’s top earner, but her estimated $200 million income includes her entire empire.

An Xtra chance for failed wannabes as final 24 includes a host of familiar faces

The judges last night whittled the X Factor contestants down to the final 24 but for many viewers it is a case of haven’t we heard – and seen – it all before?

Over a quarter of the acts to reach the last phase of the show before the live finals have already had a pop career or previously appeared on TV talent contests.

While X Factor chiefs have not tried to hide the performers’ backgrounds, there are concerns that the show is recycling acts because the talent pool is being drained by the amount of TV singing contests.
