Idol mania hits Manila

“Just arriving here is beautiful and the food is amazing, ” Pia said at the Manila Hotel presscon held yesterday.

“I haven’t been here since I was four, ” added Thia, whose parents hailed from Pampanga. “It’s really lovely to be back with my mom and I promised her that one day I would eventually take her but I didn’t expect it so soon. I’m just really looking forward to learn more about the importance of my culture and seeing my roots, ” she said.

“We heard more that the Philippines would be special and we’re looking forward to getting out, ” said Scotty.

The Idol finalists are happy to see and hear the support of their Filipino fans. “There were a lot of people lining up and waiting outside (of the airport), ” shared Naima.

American Idol finalists arrive in Manila for concert

The finalists of American Idol Season 10 arrived in the Philippines before dawn Saturday in time for a two-day concert in Quezon City on September 20 and 21.

The performers arrived aboard a Philippine Airlines PR-103 flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 at 3:30 a.m., radio dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz reported.

With them is Filipino-American singer Thia Megia, the report said.

‘American Idol’ finalists to perform

The youngest Idol’s finalist after they lowered the minimum age limit to 15, Megia said she was excited on her second visit to the Philippines.

She said she was only four years old when she and her family came back to the Philippines.

“It’s been 12 years since I was here, ” said the 16-year-old lass.

“I want to go back to my roots, ” she stressed.

She also said the Idol finalists are raring to have a taste of Filipino hospitality, as well as local cuisines.
