Carrie Underwood Reschedules Friday, September 17 Opry Appearance for Thursday, September 16

Opry star Carrie Underwood, originally scheduled to appear at the Opry on Friday, September 17, has moved her appearance to Thursday, September 16. That night’s show, originally a part of the “Opry Country Classics” series, will now be a Grand Ole Opry performance with portions of the show filmed to air later on a network television series highlighting Nashville flood recovery.

ArtPrize announces concerts with Natasha Bedingfield, David Archuleta, Hot Chelle Rae and Surfer Blood

GRAND RAPIDS — ArtPrize will produce two free concerts downtown with Natasha Bedingfield, David Archuleta and other notables.

Staff today announced the 2010 ArtPrize Concert Series to be held in conjunction with the fall arts competition at Rosa Parks Circle.

Why Carrie Underwood didn’t get an Entertainer of the Year nod from the CMA:

As a former member of the CMA’s board of directors, I’ll throw one other possible explanation into the mix, though, admittedly, it doesn’t make for a very satisfying reason: Sometimes CMA voters just get in a mood.

When that happens, it’s the musical equivalent of a “throw the bums out” political climate. The electorate — which, in this case, consists of members of the music industry, from artists to radio to record companies to assorted other support positions — gets fed up with the status quo and decides to recognize a new crop of acts that the industry wants to have represent it, not what the fans actually like best and support most.
