Carrie Underwood: Why Do The CMA’s Keep Snubbing Her for Entertainer of the Year?

The 2010 CMA Awards nominations came out yesterday, and despite nine well-deserved nominations for Miranda Lambert, including Entertainer of the Year, most of the chatter was about the blondes missing from that category. Although they both had typically strong years, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood will be sitting out the race for the top prize at country’s big fall awards show — and it’s not super clear why.

Ben Moody Speaks About Evanescence Split

In October of 2003, tensions between Ben Moody and Amy Lee, the founding members of blockbuster goth-metal band Evanescence, reached their limit, causing Moody to exit the band during their European tour. While Lee has hinted about all the “bullshit” that went on, Moody has remained mum. Until now.

In a post to an Evanescence fan site, Moody ended seven years of silence to talk about his relationship with Lee, the in-fighting that led to his exit, and the fans of Evanescence who attack him and his new band, We Are the Fallen.

Britain’s Got Talent contestant Emma Czikai has failed in her attempts to get a tribunal case against Simon Cowell.

  1. Don’t know about Taylor Swift–maybe they think she got too many awards last year–but do you get the feeling these award shows have something against Idol alums?!

  2. Yay for Smeggs’ yay for Jamie. Love the guy. Some results of research he has done into the effect food has on health in England are unbelievable – and sooo logical.

  4. MJ, is TheCityWire.com one of the sites you are not allowing osts from? They have an article about Kris and the other people who are getting inducted into the Arkansas Entertainers’ HOF next week. Can I post the link?

(very amusing factual error in article — claims Kris has sold more than 1 million copies of his album. If only…)

  5. I wonder why they tape Christmas specials so far in advance? Is it simply a matter of scheduling?

    Yeah, it’s fine…

  7. i was thinkin, didn’t carrie won the EOTY already?? then, realise that it was ACM..

then, which is better? ACM or CMA?

I’m thinking the CMAs are more “prestigious.” I wanna say the ACMs are more of a party atmosphere, being held in Vegas, with the CMAs usually in Nashville. The Hall of Fame is also part of the CMAs. And the EOTY for the ACMs is fan voted with the CMAs being voted on by industry people.

EOTY at the ACMs is actually partially industry voted and partially fan voted. The nominations for EOTY are by the industry too. The first year EOTY at the ACMs became part fan voted Kenny Chesney still beat Rascal Flatts which has a lot more online fans, leading people to think the industry vote outweighs the fan vote.

The CMAs are generally considered more prestigious because the ACMs were considered the ones that focused on sales more. But the ACMs have been the 1st to award Miranda Lambert without the sales being there whereas Miranda hasn’t won a CMA yet (that will change this year).

  10. Heres a great shot of the crowd from Allentown, PA where Danny is opening for Lady Antebellum.

Thanks for the pic! Danny is one busy dude. It’s good to see these bigger acts taking Danny and Kris under there wing and give them a stage to make more fans.

I’m going to see Carrie in concert next month! Love her!

Lee’s first post AI tour solo show sounds like a good time too.

  11. I work about three minutes from Arlington Park, and I finish my day at 4:00. I guess I know where I’m going after work on the 24th. :)

Does every writer on an album get a certification plaque? Ely Rise who was one of the co-writers on Aftermath just tweeted this:

It has probably never been done before. I would head out to the pulseboard and ask Kelly, Carrie or Daughtry fans. If any fan group knows it would be them!!

  25. Does every writer on an album get a certification plaque?

Fullmoon and CindyM, AFAIK, yes, they do, if the album or the single is certified Gold or Platinum. I can only offer data for the writers involved with the artist I follow – but that is documented in this case, for the album. Chris Cornell can be either/or both the single “Light On” or the DCTR album, since both went Platinum.

    >>look what came n the mail today! thanks mr cook & crew!! surprised @ the smallness/cuteness of the delivery children

It’s Zac’s Platinum plaque for DCTR – because of his co-writes on “Life on the Moon”, “Come Back to Me”, and “Lie”.

I recall David’s story of Chris Cornell thanking him for the Platinum plaque – there ought to be several happy co-writers with new wall decorations. ”

  26. Incipit, thanks for the information. That’s a really nice gesture that RCA does that.
