Daughtry — A Day in the Life

Being part of ‘American Idol’ will follow you wherever you go, but season five standout Chris Daughtry has managed to shake off the show’s stigma and pave his own way toward rock star status.

After his stint on the hit show, he turned down a lead singer gig with Fuel and formed his own band, the aptly titled Daughtry, in 2006. With their multi-platinum and award-winning self-titled 2006 debut and 2009’s ‘Leave This Town’ recently passing the million mark in sales, it’s safe to say that Daughtry are doing pretty well on their own.

Please Don’t Feed the Narcissist: The Fantasia Barrino Follies

Why should I care about this Idol? Perhaps I would have left it alone if she (or the staff at American Idol) had not used her alleged religious faith and her holy single motherhood card as her raison d’être. Just because she fashioned herself as a gospel singer/wailer did not mean she was ever singing for God, just for celebrity. Perfect – in an Oprah influenced world where feigned emotion works as a palliative for people who are unable to experience anything authentic.

In a taped interview at church, just two weeks after vocal cord surgery, (please check out this link, it is surreal!) she got on the stage and whispered dramatically and gave of herself so completely to her flock that she even sang just a bit for them risking her recovery, God bless her. The creepiest of all was when she put her arms around a group of small children and offered them golden nuggets of timeless advice.

Bucky Covington Uses His Head to Win ATV Race

Bucky Covington loves pretty much anything with wheels, so it’s no surprise that during a recent concert taping for the 3rd Annual Fisher’s ATV World reunion show in Pennsylvania, he and his twin brother, Rocky, took to their ATVs to compete against each other in an ATV obstacle course.

Bucky says he loves having a twin, but he’s found that it means he has to automatically double the fun whenever he makes a purchase on something fast! “The bad thing and the great thing is that I have an identical twin brother. And that’s really cool … it’s a homemade best friend from the word go, ” Bucky tells The Boot. “But the bad part about it is if I go out and buy a toy, I’ve always got to buy two of ’em! So that gets pricey after awhile! But we don’t buy real expensive stuff. I buy everything used … dirt bikes and whatever, usually pretty inexpensive stuff. Usually all it takes for us to have fun is a campfire and a cooler of beer, but sometimes you gotta have a dirt bike!”

Pauline Guntlow was attending the concert at Pepsi Arena in Albany, N.Y., when she was ejected at the request of fellow concertgoer Marc Barbera. He told police that Guntlow had hit his wife, Alicia.
Guntlow said that Alicia and the Barberas’ 4-year-old daughter stood up during the concert, blocking their view. Guntlow said she only tapped Alicia on the shoulder and asked her to sit.

Simon Cowell’s Third UK Cheating Scandal

Talkback Thames emailed me. The producers are trying to split hairs; they claim the sound enhancement software is used only in post-production, and that Cowell and fellow panelists Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden do hear and judge only the performers’ raw efforts. But the audience is deprived of making fair comparisons about the contestants’ talent amid allegations that some singers are advancing because of interesting backstories instead of vocal ability. Even now, Talkback Thames is refusing to confirm or deny whether Britain’s Got Talent’s most famous contestant, Susan Boyle, had her audition helped by Auto-Tune. That YouTube video of her performance garnered 120 million views, earning ITV an estimated $500, 000 and making her a global singing sensation. But her success won’t feel so magical if it turns out her audition was Auto-Tuned as well.

  1. Adam says his next album will be released in the Spring, and he wants to do more writing this time around

And when, pray tell, is he going to have time to record a new record with his US tour, Asian tour, and have it “out in the spring”?

TPTB must already have all the music picked out for the record.

  2. Gawd, Simon Cowell–how much more can we take of the Auto-tune BS. Obviously, pop/rock/rap/r&b/country singers use it for recorded albums, but live, I have never heard of such a thing until the last few days. It does make me wonder WTH was going on at AI, BEFORE season 9. You would have to knock me over with a feather for me to believe that any of the performances this year, live on the show, were at all auto-tuned. The recorded music was, most likely. Anyway, that makes this season even better IMO, because of the lack of auto-tune for live performances (I am making an assumption here). Many peeps have complained about how bad the singers were, compared to previous seasons, but at least it was their real voices. I am not accusing any singers from past seasons of being auto-tuned live, but it does make me wonder if that was ever considered.

  3. And when, pray tell, is he going to have time to record a new record with his US tour, Asian tour, and have it “out in the spring”?

TPTB must already have all the music picked out for the record.

Hmmm, yeah. If they really plan to release album in the Spring, they must have some songs practically ready to record. Maybe single candidates?

  4. out in the spring”?

Been around the idol track long enough to know that they dates are tentative and subject to being pushed back, from Jason Castro to David Archuleta. I am sure they have some songs in the pipeline, but if this record is released in the spring, I think it will be verrrrry late spring, if that.

  5. I wouldn’t count on Adam’s album being released in the spring — unless by spring they mean late May/early June. He isn’t even going to be able to get into the recording studio much at all until his int’l tour ends, and that’s not until December, right?

They could rush something out, but if he wants to take his time with a 2nd album, late summer/early fall would be more realistic

(same thing with Kris’s 2nd album — he’s talking about going back into recording studio after he comes off the Lifehouse tour)

  6. In the spring means anything up to June, just managing my own expectations! I just want it to be great and hope Adam takes whatever time he needs. It’s probably a good idea to get a summer single out though.

  7. Oh my gosh, thank you Huffington Post writer. It’s about time someone in the media saw through Fantasia’s act.

  8. Unless I missed dates Adam should be done at the end of oct. Plus we heard a pretty good rumor back in
Jan or feb that someone had been contacted to write for him. I think may June Is doable, but it is still going to be tight. It’s a very smart thing to do, but idk…..

  9. From @IdolsNow: “Publicist for CARLY SMITHSON’s band We Are The Fallen announces new single “Tear The World Down” to be released Oct 12.”

YAY! and Carly just tweeted about it too. I love the title track on their album, but they really really killed it live. It is so great when they perform this song. However my favorite track is still “St. John”.

  10. Unless I missed dates Adam should be done at the end of oct.

No, he’s touring Europe after Asia and has even talked about concert dates in Ireland in December. But he has also said he may be recording in Europe during that time as well. And mentioned Max Martin.

d a pretty good rumor back in
Jan or feb that someone had been contacted to write for him.

    Who was that?

  11. Cary thanks for the correction. The rumor came off idf. I’d give the
details but I’d probably get it wrong so I won’t bother. I would just end up creating a new rumor lol. I’ll look and see if I can find the thread.

  12. Oh my gosh, thank you Huffington Post writer. It’s about time someone in the media saw through Fantasia’s act.

I could almost have agreed with her article, then I read her comments in the comment section about how ‘intact’ Fantasia’s family was, then I realized she didn’t have much of a clue. Having a father blame you for your rape at age 14, is worse than having no father at all. YMMV. Considering we don’t really know anything, it’s just a bunch of pontificating and hypothesizing on both ends.

Somewhere between the blow-hards on both ends of this argument is the truth. Interesting how we can psychoanalyze someone without ever having met them, and that is to the Huffington Post author, not anyone here, cause that’s what we do at Mj’s.

  13. I would expect both Adam and Kris — and probably Danny as well — to all have singles out next spring (as well as other Idols such as Cook, Archie, Lee, Crystal, Casey, etc). I am more skeptical that any of them would be able to get a 2nd album out that quickly, although I suppose anything is possible.

I agree and I would hope that they take their time and put out a good effort. This is a fragile time in the recording industry, so to put out some schlock in haste would not be so smart. That is for all of them.

  15. Releasing in the Spring would be the smartest thing for Adam to do. It will most likely be late spring. Strike while the iron is hot. I just pray to God that they release a MONSTER first single, MONTHS before his 2nd album comes out instead of releasing the first single the day before the album comes out like they did with FYE.

That was a gigantic mistake considering the song WWFM didnt peak until what? April? when he went back to Idol. I think they should do what they did with Katy Perry too. Release a couple of songs on Itunes to get people interested in what there is to offer. I don’t think the album should be very long either. I think they should do an EP like with Lady Gaga’s, Bieber’s and others second albums. Those seem to sell SOOO much better than like a 13 song album.

I feel that as much as I LOVE FYE it was filled with too much filler. These days for anyone to sell platinum albums they have to be filled with radio hits. OH, and a not so polarizing album cover, and pesky indie labels selling unauthorized garbage a week before the release date should help it out too.

I’m also still gunning for some kind of collaboration with a rapper, as weird as that sounds (i ALWAYS wanted Adam to do something with Missy Elliott LOLOLOL). It can also help Adam cross over into other markets that may not know much about Adam at all. It can be for Adam’s album or he can be a guest on some other person’s album.

  16. Cary – I can’t find the thread.. but I’ll look some more tomorrow. Its a matter of pride now that I find it. :)

  17. I am certain they can get a new album out by late Spring/Early Summer, so he can have some new material for the summer tour. This time around they will do the releases of the single and the album the right way, plua get the album out faster Internationally than what they did the first time. From what I have heard Adam say, that this album will be more like WWFM and IIHU, than what he had this time which was all over the place. He has an idea of what he wants and if he want to get together with Max Martin, then no doubt Max is already getting songs together for him.

  18. A 68-year-old woman can sue for false arrest after [s]he was kicked out of an American Idol concert, a New York appeals court ruled.

Well, there goes the profit, if any, Idol might have made on the tour concert in Albany.

  20. Once upon a time really good Artists could put out a few albums a year. There is no law out there that says a good album is dependent on the inordinate amount of time spent trying to bring it to fruition. I’ve been, sadly, exposed to many an album that was “years” in the making and one listen and that was that…back to the drawings boards. Other times albums take only a few short months from conception to fruition and they are instant hits.

I think I’ll just sit back, relax, and see how things go with Spring releases. Some Artists are good at surprising us with their work eithic once the ball gets rolling. Besides sometimes recording 50 or so songs and trying to find the super 12 has a way of backfiring. Too much is often as bad as too little.

  21. I do not attempt to underestimate Adam. He is a very hard worker and I am sure that along the way he and Monte have been playing with some tunes and that Adam has been writing or at least kicking a few ideas around regarding new material. And I remember hearing before his first album came out that Adam had enough material for a second whole album and was really trying to narrow it down. So If he writes some new material, which it sounds like he wants to do, and records some of the stuff sitting on the shelf I don’t see why he couldn’t put out a spring record. I am excited even if it doesn’t come out in spring, because Adam will be recording with his band(hopefully) and I like how his songs sound with the band. Monte’s guitar adds so much more to Adam’s performances, IMO.

  22. Cary – I can’t find the thread.. but I’ll look some more tomorrow. Its a matter of pride now that I find it.

OK. I’ve heard Simon Curtis’s name mentioned.

no doubt Max is already getting songs together for him.

Yes, I bet they put the word out to people like Max Martin already.

The thing is I feel like there is a plan for Adam and the label is really pushing him for this timeline. Earlier he was just saying vague things like he’d work on it in the new year after touring was complete, but after meeting with his label this summer he’s being putting out this Spring date. And on this interview he said “thats when they want it”. So maybe because he’s had such a great tour they don’t want to lose momentum with his fanbase, or maybe they really want him to be ready to tour again next summer. Don’t know.

  23. I’m not underestimating Adam but it doesn’t sound like he’s done a ton of writing yet — at least he hasn’t mentioned that he has a bunch of songs written and ready to record. If he is planning to work with a variety of co-writers they are going to have to book time to get together for writing sessions, recording sessions, etc. Same thing with producers. Who knows whether the people he wants to work with will be immediately available? And since Adam is going to be on tour pretty much through the end of the year, it’s not like he is going to have a lot of free time to work on the new album until December or January.

Kris has said that he has already written a bunch of new songs. But that doesn’t mean he’s anywhere near ready to release a 2nd album either. Again, it will depend of when they can book studio time, hook up with producers and co-writers, etc. etc.

And both Adam and Kris have said that they felt like the production on their 1st album was rushed and that they want to be able to take more time to get stuff more the way they want it this time around. That doesn’t sound like they really want to rush through the process again.

All of this just makes me skeptical that a new album will be out in the spring. Just because TPTB might want it out quickly does not mean that is the best plan, or that it is something that will actually happen. But as I say, it’s not impossible.

  25. Adam said a couple of months ago, in June, when he had the NYC Nokia concerts that he had a long meeting with his label regarding the new album and they discussed the wish list for producers and co-writers. Who’s to say that RCA hasn’t been scheduling these writing sessions and recording sessions since then? I think Adam said that they had already received submissions of some songs. He’s also talked about having to get busy with his songwriting and Monte has said that they are going to work on some songs together. Adam has also talked about recording while he was in Europe. RCA seems to have a definite timeline and plan for Adam’s next record it seems and I for one, think that’s a great thing. Sometimes the idols wait too long to release and the momentum they had disappears.

As far as what Kris is doing, he’s not Adam and Adam’s not Kris. Jive isn’t RCA and RCA isn’t Jive. The plans for the two of them may be completely different. They may be planning to release another single for Kris and not one for Adam. They’re not on the same timeline anymore like they were for the first albums having just come off the idol tour. Just don’t think you can judge by that anymore.

And on this interview he said “thats when they want it”. So maybe because he’s had such a great tour they don’t want to lose momentum with his fanbase, or maybe they really want him to be ready to tour again next summer.

That’s exactly what I’m thinking … a new album in the Spring and another tour in the the Summer. Adam’s tour has been so successful. I would be surprised if this isn’t their strategy.

RCA would be crazy not to make sure he has everything he needs to get a album out by late Spring so he can tour. As successful as his tour has been, selling out venues from as small as 1000 seats, up to 8,600 seats, they would be crazy not to tour again in larger venues. I think they can do it, because unlike last time, he’s not hindered with the Idol’s tour preventing him from concentrating totally on the album.

  27. Danny did a live acoustic concert in Boston tonight after his appearance was cancelled due to the bad weather there tonight. In addition to singing they had inteview segments in between the songs, Danny did talk about a new album, but said it is just in the exploration stages now as the look at directions to go in and writing partners. I’m not surprised as his album is only 5 months old so he has some time.

Hopefully they will put up the video form the site later on .

  28. I’m also still gunning for some kind of collaboration with a rapper, as weird as that sounds (i ALWAYS wanted Adam to do something with Missy Elliott LOLOLOL).

I could see Adam doing something like “Supa Dupa Fly” (at least the singing part, with his own style/twist on things) It would be interesting if he collaborated with a hip hop/R&B artist.

Also spring does sound early for a second album, but if his label managed to do that, or have him release some time next summer, I could see him benefiting from that. His sales are pretty solid for FYE the album. WWFM did well and if IIHY continues to do well, I could see the success from those singles, and his album making it easier for him to do well with a second album. Especially if they release a second album like next spring/summer.

  29. CindyM

I’m not judging Adam by Kris or vice versa. And maybe RCA already has writing and recording sessions scheduled and the whole timeline planned out. But Adam is not really a songwriter — he co-wrote, what, 4 of the songs on his album? Even though he says he wants to write more on this next one, it’s likely he’s still going to be dependent on other writers to come up with a lot of the stuff he ends up recording. What if Adam hates the stuff they come up with? What if TPTB hate it?

Maybe I’m just being stubborn here. I see a bunch of obstacles in the way of getting out a 2nd album before next summer. If they can overcome these obstacles and release an album — a GOOD album, not a rush job with a bunch of filler — then that’s fantastic. Good for them if they manage to pull it off.

Adam can still tour next summer without his album being out beforehand. Look at Maroon 5 for example — they are on tour and their album doesn’t drop until mid-September. Now I realize they have a lot more older material to work with than Adam would have, but they are also performing several of the songs that are going to be on the new release. No reason why Adam couldn’t do that as well. It wouldn’t be ideal, but it could be done.

  30. (i ALWAYS wanted Adam to do something with Missy Elliott LOLOLOL).

Well Adam and Missy Elliott are both performing during the Singapore Grand Prix in September so you never know – maybe they will make a connection there!

Interesting post, some emphasis on Adam fitting in with today’s “mold” rather than blazing a new trail. While you’re probably right about what it takes for mainstream success, I’m hoping not. Adam’s talent is extraordinary so I’d hope he might travel an extraordinary path. Many “radio hits” lately are auto-tuned, sound-alike garbage. Adam’s talent is leaps beyond that stuff. He shouldn’t have to hook up with a rapper to be cool, he’s doing pretty well without that. Is it possible for him to help start some new trends in pop music?

I agree with that, I don’t want them to do to Adam what they have done to Archie and Cook, by waiting so long in between albums and singles. It’s rediculous, especially with Cook because he had a platinum album and he hasn’t a single out in a long time. With the success Adam has had, especially internatonally, they need to take advantage of his popularity and work on getting a new album by June.

  35. Sometimes the idols wait too long to release and the momentum they had disappears.

Waiting awhile doesn’t seem to have hurt Fantasia at all.

I wonder if RCA views Adam as an artist with a more limited shelf life because of his age and the type of music he makes? Maybe that is why they want to rush out another album. I think with the type of music he makes it really won’t take long to slap together a new album.

  36. It’s rediculous, especially with Cook because he had a platinum album and he hasn’t a single out in a long time.

What is happening with Cook’s album and why are we hearing so little about it? I love both Davids and appreciate that David A’s management has him costantly keeping his fans in the loop. This is not happening on the Cook front. I’m thinking either there’s going to be a big surprise any day now about Cook’s album (or at least a single?) being issued in Oct./Nov. or it’s looking like a spring release for him.

  37. I agree with that, I don’t want them to do to Adam what they have done to Archie and Cook, by waiting so long in between albums and singles.

Do you think they intended on things taking this long? He was talking last year initially about heading into the studio February/March. David is actually a good example of how easily things can change. It happens all the time with bigger stars too.

This is not happening on the Cook front. I’m thinking either there’s going to be a big surprise any day now about Cook’s album being issued or it’s looking like a spring release for him.

I have no idea what’s up with Cook’s album, no one is saying anything. I am hoping a single will be released in September and hopefully his album will be out in November.

  39. Well waiting awhile didn’t hurt Fantasia, but I also think that she was able to remain very visible through her reality show and now her near constant publicity. Remaining visible and not disappearing for a length of time certainly helps.

I do also think though that Pop music is very much a fast moving market, we see it in the chart positions each week. HAC charts, AC charts seem to move at a much slower pace than Pop. What’s really great about Adam though, is that he can sing an eclectic mix of music, he’s not stuck in one particular groove. He’s seen success on the HAC/AC charts with WWFM which reached #2 on HAC and IIHY is climbing pretty fast there. So, when the Pop thing is over, I guess he can concentrate on HAC like most of the other idols.

I wonder if RCA views Adam as an artist with a more limited shelf life because of his age and the type of music he makes? Maybe that is why they want to rush out another album. I think with the type of music he makes it really won’t take long to slap together a new album.

LOL that’s an upgrade from predicting his 15 minuntes is over already. Well, let’s just wait and see how limited is his shelf life then.

Of course things change, especially if your having trouble finding good material or problems scheduling studio time, plus numerous other setbacks. I was not knocking either David with the previous statement, but RCA/JIVE have waited too long to release new music.

  42. Cindym funny you should mention this, I’ve
been thinking quite a bit about how fickle top40 is.. About Pink’s comments about her chart runs in the us & Adams future in the I international arena and US hac charts.

  43. Lol @ the fantasia comparison. I guess it’s good to be the winner?

Why is it a bad comparison? Just because she won? I don’t think the winners effect lasts that many years lol! People seem to think waiting a bit to release an album is bad, but just today there is proof it isn’t always a bad idea : )

  44. LOL and now BroadwaySpotted, a NY gossip blog has picked up the canoodling tweet:

BroadwaySpotted Spotted by @morgankarr: @KatyPerry & former Wicked cast member @Adamlambert canoodling at the Scissor Sisters concert. 44 minutes ago via web

Lol @ the fantasia comparison. I guess it’s good to be the winner?

Winning idol lost it’s lustre when they started giving contracts to anybody in the top 10. What’s the point of winning?

Music is a business and no matter what anyone here thinks, any of them could be canned before their contracts are up. You’re only as good as your last record. All any of them can hope for is to have a good debut album and get a second record.

  46. I was not knocking either David with the previous statement, but RCA/JIVE have waited too long to release new music.

David A’s in relatively decent shape, though how good his album is remains to be seen. He had the Christmas album, the book, his team works hard to maintain his very loyal core fanbase. His single is being launched, he’s starting some radio promo, and the video should be on VH1 soon.

  47. If they were great he’d be selling like Eminem.

LOL, I guess there aren’t many artists today who are “great” then. Eminem is smoking the entire industry. You’re right, Adam’s next album could flop or it could be a huge success or it could be somewhere in the middle. Who knows? Who would have thought we’d get the idol sales results we got from Season 8? I never thought that Adam would outsell all three of the other idols who released albums combined, who would? Who would have thought that Fantasia might come it at #2 for her album this week? It’s all a crapshoot. But capitalizing on momentum is NEVER a bad thing in my book and I’m glad that RCA at least right now is planning a way to do that. Whether they are able to get an album out that fast, time will tell.

I do think it’s cool that we’ve evolved to arguing that Adam’s second album is coming out too fast from the original “he’ll never get a second one”.

  48. Reminder:

Just deleted a pile of super-defensive posts, and put someone in moderation.

  49. But capitalizing on momentum is NEVER a bad thing in my book and I’m glad that RCA at least right now is planning a way to do that.

I don’t agree that it is never a bad thing. I definitely believe that an artist can be over-saturated.

Winning idol lost it’s lustre when they started giving contracts to anybody in the top 10. What’s the point of winning?

Winning is great, but sometimes the best artist doesn’t win. Sometimes the guy who finished second, third or fourth becomes more successful or sells more albums. Thank goodness record companies took a chance on non-winners like Clay, Daughtry and Adam.

  51. I wanna go to Aaron’s fan day :(. Stupid distance between California and Pennsylvania.

I’ll meet him again some day :).

  52. Talking about a new album release date when the current one is less than a year old seems early to me too, but I suppose the pattern of Idols becoming less successful with time (with the notable exceptions)and releasing albums every 2 years maybe makes them want to try something different and really move the usual timetable up.

I thought they all felt rushed; with Kris and Adam having to record during AI tour, and completing in just two months after the tour and Danny not able to start until mid September.

Who knows? It is true they often do push dates back and “Spring” could easily meld into July or August. Interesting to speculate.

  53. Winning idol lost it’s lustre when they started giving contracts to anybody in the top 10. What’s the point of winning?

    Season 1?

I don’t agree that it is never a bad thing. I definitely believe that an artist can be over-saturated.

I think that can be true. But Adam will have had two maybe three songs total that have been released and played on the radio by the time spring rolls around. That’s not a lot of music being heard. He’s not a household name. People talk about artists like Gaga being oversaturated because she released 8 or 9 singles in a row from the same set of albums.

  55. Multiple alums have been signed since Idol’s first season. This isn’t a new practice. Tamyra was even allowed to join another season’s tour.

In just the second season you had the runner up sale more then the winner. The fourth place finisher sale more then the third place finisher. The show’s popularity continued. The competition to finish first didn’t seem to become less heated after this imo.

  56. lyndseyparker

Just had nice conversation in Vegas with producer Matt Serletic about Taylor Hicks. My life is surreal sometimes. 13 minutes ago via Echofon

Matt Serletic needs to get back in the studio and finish David Cook’s album and quit hobnobbing with Lyndsey!!

Did David Cook stay on tour longer than originally planned? That’s why a little more delay, right?

True, his tour was extended from May to September to the first of December so it did affect when he got to start working on record number 2.

  58. Perhaps the quick turn around for album 2 is a new idol or RCA strategy. Perhaps RCA just feels there is more money to be made if the move quckly. maybe starting from square 1 is just too hard after being absent for while (ask xtina). Maybe it’s hard to wait inbetween albums with pop artists than it is with country & hac since the market moves so fast. Lots of maybes & I bet there are lots of reasons as well.

  59. At the Busch Gardens concert, Cook said the album was ‘nearly done’. The tea leaf readers are taking note that several band members shaved off facial hair in the last few days after earlier stating they would not do so until recording was done. The drummer also stated the album is nearly done. Sounds like pretty good indicators.

  60. Heh to the idea that previous seasons were autotuned, thus explaining why season 9 didn’t sound as good. If autotuning had been used, it would have been apparent when live performances happened later. No distinctions have been noted.

  61. The contracts for the Season 9 Idols are about to end…I wonder who will be signed? I sure hope some of those cut in Hollywood this year can break out of the pack…

  62. All I know about David’s new album is I’m impatient. Haha.

Here are some tweets from his drummer, Kyle – no clue what he means, could be nothing, could be something ;)

    # KYLESPEEK

To God one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like a day. We need to be patient just as He is with all of us.

Oh Lord, Tierbee, Kyle is getting as cryptic as the rest of them! Next he’ll post “Yeti” ;)

    Heh Slezak.we already KNEW this:

CindyM – wasn’t that news about the US Open right here at mj’s about 2 weeks ago? I think it’s been on the event schedule at DCO at least that long. Still, it was very good of Slezak to post it. Not complaining, KWIM?

It’s not like that pap pic of David today with the same scruff he’s been wearing forever being called his “Hollywood Look” – *chuckle*

  64. It’s not like that pap pic of David today with the same scruff he’s been wearing forever being called his “Hollywood Look” – *chuckle*

That made me laugh. OMG! Cook with a beard! No WAY!

Kyle is getting as cryptic as the rest of them! Next he’ll post “Yeti”

He did tweet earlier about… how much wood could a woodchuck chuck?

  65. Still, it was very good of Slezak to post it. Not complaining, KWIM?

Especially since he actually used a good picture and not that bangs/hair disaster from the “This Is It” red carpet ;)…

  66. Casey James’ mom just tweeted that Casey has been taken to the hospital after the concert. There are reports that he was not well on stage.

    #BybeeDJames
Got a number of a hospital. He sounded sick over the phone today. He must have gotten worse. I will let y’all know something on a bit.

  67. LOL, it’s not just me? A HuffingtonPost blogger thinks Fantasia is suffering from some form of Narcissistic Personality Disorder? (I feel so vindicated!) AND it turns out the little “altercation” I witnessed at the Idols concert in Philly this year wasn’t the only one that happened on tour. I wonder if anybody got arrested at my show! :-D

ETA: Sad to hear about Casey. Hope he’s okay! :-(

  68. I don’t agree that it is never a bad thing. I definitely believe that an artist can be over-saturated.

Well yeah, you can be over-saturated – if your name is Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift.

Lady Gaga released 7 worldwide singles and 2 other songs in some parts of the world. In a row! Her new album is ready, but she is not releasing it until next year.

Taylor Swift also released a lot of singles from her last album and she got a ton of airplay on Country, POP, HAC and AC formats. Then she dominated the awards shows and after Grammys her team realized that she is overexposed. She practically disappeared until August.

Ke$ha is on her 4th single and Dr Luke is working on new songs for her because they plan to re-release her album for the holiday season. So they obviously plan to release more singles from this era. Ke$ha’s debut album was released in January.

Rihanna released her last album on the same day as Adam. She released many songs from it and had two hits – Hard and Rudeboy. Both songs were bigger hits than WWFM and IIHU. Now she is featured on Eminem’s monster hit Love The Way You Lie. And guess what? It looks like she plans to release her new album this fall! She and her label figured that Rated R just wasn’t commercial enough, so she started recording her new album months ago. Her new single is expected to be released soon.

If Adam and RCA want Adam’s next album to be released next spring, they can do it. Personally I just hope the gap between the last single from FYE and the first single from the second album is not too big.

Ah so wrong but I admit that made me laugh!
