Pia Toscano, ‘American Idol’ finalists to perform at Mohegan Sun Arena

“American Idol” finalist Pia Toscano said she will never forget the advice she received from Jennifer Lopez during her final show.

The “Idol” judge told Toscano, who was eliminated from the singing competition on April 7, to never give up, no matter how many doors get slammed in her face. Although Toscano was soon signed to Interscope Records by “Idol” mentor Jimmy Iovine, she still finds Lopez’s advice relevant.

“I’m really going to take (the advice) with me, because even though I am signed now, you never know what’s to come or what’s going to happen or what lies ahead, ” she said during a phone interview with The Citizens’ Voice. “So I’m really going to take that with me to never, ever give up.”

Ryan Seacrest on ‘American Idol’s’ Emmy Chances: ‘It’s Now or Never’

THR: Idol is up for eight Emmys this year, and in its decade on the air, it’s only won one, a technical award for direction in 2007. Is it now or never?

Seacrest: It seems to be. If it’s going to happen, this would be the year. We have been on the air for now 11 seasons. We had a transition season last year and I think there was some doubt from people [as to] what would the show do, what would it deliver, how would the changes affect the ratings. But fortunately, we had one of our best seasons. We had a new energy and new dimensions to the show with Steven and Jennifer; there was a different mood, a different temperature, tone and texture to last year’s American Idol. So I guess if we’re going to do it, this is probably the year.

THR: What does an Emmy win mean to you?

Seacrest: It’s special and flattering to be nominated. We’re grateful that we’re considered every year, but we want to win it. It would be nice to have one Emmy that says American Idol on the bottom of it. It is important to us.

Although he and Jennifer Lopez announced their separation nearly a month ago, the singer’s still not ready to let go, a source tells Us Weekly.

How Katy Perry’s Hot 100 Record Stacks-Up Against The Beatles, Elvis, Michael, Mariah & Whtiney

“Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” is the fifth No. 1 in a row from Perry’s “Teenage Dream” album, as Billboard.biz reported. The run began with “California Gurls” and continued with the title track, “Firework” and “E.T.”

It’s not as rare as collecting five No. 1s from one album, but it’s still an infrequent accomplishment for any artist to have five or more consecutive singles reach the top of the Hot 100. Elvis Presley did it with “A Big Hunk o’ Love, ” “Stuck on You, ” “It’s Now or Never, ” “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” and “Surrender, ” between 1959-1961. The first group to rack up five No. 1s in a row on the Hot 100 was the Supremes. In 1964-65, the Motown trio scored with “Where Did Our Love Go, ” “Baby Love, ” “Come See About Me, ” “Stop! In the Name of Love” and “Back in My Arms Again.”
