Super-producer, Dr. Luke Turned Down American Idol Gig

Producer Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus) was asked to join the judges panel. He tells the LA Times that he turned it down:

According to Luke, that definitely does not include his own spot in the limelight. “I’ve been asked to be a judge on a really big TV show, ” he says. “You can use your head to figure out which one. And I turned it down.” Why? “It’s not what I need. For me to just be a face on something, I’d look at myself and be disappointed. I’d rather be the person behind the scenes making the show.”

“Who was the most inspirational dancer, this season?” mused producer Nigel Lythgoe after the finale. “I think it’s Ellen DeGeneres. You laugh, but the public knows that she is not a dancer. This is somebody that has not had any lessons and there she is, absolutely brilliant. In her own words, I thought she was a carpenter because she nailed it tonight!”
