Performing back in N.C. ‘crazy’ for Scotty McCreery

“It was definitely a moment I’ll never forget going out to the RBC Center, an arena that I grew up in, watching the Hurricanes and the Wolfpack and seeing a lot of games there. Performing there was crazy, ” the 17-year-old country singer said during an interview at TWC Arena before Thursday’s concert.

He said several friends and family members were at the Raleigh show, and several more – including his father, Mike, and his sister, Ashley – were in Charlotte on Thursday.

“My sister goes to UNC Charlotte, so I’ve got some ties down here, ” McCreery said. “A lot of her friends and my friends go there as well, so I’ve been down here many a time. … It’s always nice to be in North Carolina, (and) being in the biggest city in North Carolina is just a plus.”

Ten-year-old wins Lauren Alaina paper doll contest

On July 17, the Times Free Press featured a cutout of Suddeth for readers to dress using their own creativity. Many glued the cutout on cardboard and dressed the paper doll in fashions ranging from casual to exotic. Entries were judged by members of the Times Free Press design staff.

In a recent interview, Suddeth said if she picked the winner of the paper doll contest, she’d look for “a short floral dress with cowboy boots or anything that looks like I’m going to prom but still country-looking.”

Who is this masked man anyway?

While EW was at Comic-Con, our photographer had a run-in with a certain celebrity posing as the Dark Knight himself. So who is this masked man? The answer’s after the jump. Of course, you’ll need a hint: We never wanted this former reality star to leave this town.

Answer: Chris Daughtry. Mr. Simon Cowell would respect that tight black undershirt.

Jordin Sparks: “J.Lo and Marc Were Sweet”

“I met them a couple years ago when I was on, and she was the mentor, ” Jordin tells me during an Energizer/VH1 Save The Music event held today in NYC. “I remember meeting both of them. They were both so sweet.”

For Jordin, the news earlier this month that the American Idol judge and her husband of seven years were calling it quits was a rude awakening.

“It’s really sad when any marriage ends because you want to see it work, so I hope that they can be amicable.”

Travis Wall on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’: I Thought I Was Too Nice

While there’s no shortage of talent on So You Think You Can Dance, Travis Wall is a breakout star of the show.

The season two alum returned to the stage as a contestant-turned-choreographer, delivering dazzling, emotional routines. His work pushes the dancers to the limit, yet plays off their strengths. He’s a fan favorite for good reason!

Even so, there are times when he has been criticized for his efforts by the judges. With his turn behind the table this season, he tells Celebuzz that while he enjoyed it, he was too nice! Plus, we get the details on his new project that will take him from TV to the big screen.

Solving The ‘Glee’ Graduation Problem

The problem is that when we return to McKinley High School, Kurt, Rachel and Finn will be seniors. And that creates a dilemma for the writers: Do they let the characters graduate and leave at the end of the school year, as high school seniors are wont to do, or do they contrive some way for the students to stick around and continue to be a substantial, ongoing part of the show’s storylines? The former kicks two of the show’s biggest stars (and Monteith) to the curb. The latter turns them into modern-day Woodersons. (There could always be a spin-off, but that doesn’t really solve the problem for the existing show.)

Both options have substantial downsides. One is a gamble on whether new cast members (or even existing ones) can generate the same heat, and the other stretches credulity more than even a show like Glee, for which credulity-stretching has clearly never been a concern, might be able to bear. And they’re both based on a faulty assumption that most shows seem to share: that the in-show timeline has to roughly correspond with the real-world calendar.
