Rising star Scotty McCreery leads ‘Idol’ tour to St. Louis

He says his new life is taking a lot of getting used to.

“It’s still pretty wild, ” McCreery says. “I can’t do the normal things a normal 17-year-old can do, like going out to eat and walking down the street, without getting stopped.”

But things will get wilder as McCreery nears the release of his as-yet-untitled debut album, which he says is about halfway complete.

The album, he says, will “represent Scotty McCreery, just a normal 17-year-old from small-town America. I want it to be something Middle America can relate to.”

Former Nashvillian Paul McDonald rides the American Idol wave

So, this tour must be a different experience for you.

Yeah. The past six years it was nothing but original material and roughing it the old-fashioned way. This time we’re singing all cover songs, and it’s a giganto production. And actually it’s nice — last night I left the venue, and was like, “Wow, I don’t have to load up all of my gear and put it in the van!” We go out and sign autographs. It’s a whole lot different from loading out your stuff and then driving through the night in a stinky van to the next city. There’s the best sound team. There’s catering.

Brad Paisley And Carrie Underwood Premiere New Video

The video was filmed in the El Mirage desert, about 90 miles north east of Los Angeles. The day was hot, dry and windy – even a sand cyclone appeared.

“This is my first desert video – I always said I wouldn’t do one of those cliché desert videos but Robert (Deaton) pitched his idea and it all made sense, ” says Paisley. “It’s a big metaphor –
Carrie and I are in a desert walking towards one another. It’s as symbolic as it gets in reference to the song.”

“It was important to us that the video be shot with a sophisticated approach, ” added Underwood. “The song and recording came together in such a wonderful, natural way. We wanted the video to also be something we could be proud of…and we are!”

So You Think You Can Dance’ alum Alex Wong on his latest injury: ‘I really want to dance again.’

Last year, when So You Think You Can Dance season 7 contestant Alex Wong had to drop out of the competition due to a ruptured Achilles tendon on his right leg, that long wail you may have heard was SYTYCD fans everywhere expressing their grief over the loss of one of the show’s very best dancers ever. (There’s a reason he was known as “Alex Freaking Wong.”) Dance fiends at least took comfort in knowing that Alex would likely return this season to perform as an All Star. But then exec producer Nigel Lythgoe announced two weeks ago that Alex had ruptured his Achilles tendon on his left leg and would not be able to return, and all hope drained away from the world.

Darren Criss: ‘I Don’t Want Blaine to Leave Dalton’

“I don’t want him to leave Dalton, so I like seeing him go to Dalton. I like being there, I like the blazer, I like those boys and we’ve become really good friends, ” Darren said.

“It’s very strange and surreal. I’m just some random ’schmo’ so it’s kind of weird to be put in this position. It’s very humbling, it’s very encouraging, I feel very fortunate considering it’s a part that I believe in and on a show that I think has more value than just a television show. That’s been really special. I wish I could say it’s a dream come true, but quite frankly, my dreams weren’t that good as a kid. I didn’t have that big of an imagination, ” Darren said about his breakout success.
