Dancer, Alex Wong tweeted, “WOW. OK JUST MET GAGA AND SHE GOT DOWN AND TOUCHED MY CAST AND SAID A PRAYER FOR ME. HOLY SH&$&$!:@:@!!!!!!” Alex just had surgery on his left Achilles tendon. He injured his right tendon last year. Lady Gaga will be guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance tonight.

WQDR Raleigh Makes Waves Along With Ratings Strides

“Don’t be fooled by ‘The Scotty Effect, ’” the one sheet mailer blared next to a picture of McCreery with a cartoon dialog bubble saying “It was good while it lasted.” The piece went on to declare “WQDR has seen a one-time run up in their listening as they’ve stunted Scottie’s [sic] win, but as the euphoria over Scotty’s victory erodes, so will their listening. What goes up must come down.”

While acknowledging that all of its promotion surrounding McCreery—including temporarily changing the station’s name and logo to “Scotty 94.7”—played a key role, WQDR station manager, PD and afternoon air personality Lisa McKay takes exception to the mailer.

MetalTalk.net: Before I start asking about the [forthcoming album, can you tell us what you thought about your surprise appearance to 30 million unsuspecting Americans on “American Idol”?

Ian Hill: It was a whirlwind! The lad James [Durbin] — we owe him a debt of gratitude for bringing heavy metal to the mass media. For that reason it was something we couldn’t turn down. We weren’t just representing JUDAS PRIEST but the whole heavy metal family, if you like. Because we’d had a couple of hits in the ’80s in the states, people know the band name well. We’re a well-known brand. They may not necessarily associate it directly with the music, but everyone knew the name, so it wasn’t a cold audience. It was fun; we had a great reception!

Celebrity judges seek spark from TV appearances

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Jean Holmgren doesn’t like country music and had never heard of Blake Shelton.

Then came “The Voice.”

A few months later, she’s the proud owner of Shelton’s new album, one of more than 116, 000 fans who made “Red River Blue” the tall Oklahoman’s first No. 1 on the Billboard album charts this month.

“Once Blake was on my radar from ‘The Voice, ‘ I heard his new single and I was really impressed, ” said Holmgren, a 27-year-old online marketing specialist from Kingston, Pa. “I was never a country fan but he has such a good voice.
