‘The X Factor’ sneak-peak set for MLB All-Star game

Now that American Idol’s on vacation, the lane’s wide open for music mogul Simon Cowell to pitch his new show to America. And what better time and place to do that than at the 2011 Major League Baseball All-Star Game on Fox? His singing reality competition, The X Factor, is getting a “world premiere preview” on July 12 just before the game at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Is the next American Idol from Portland?

The good. The bad. The really bad.

They were all at the Rose Garden for the first ever American Idol auditions held in Portland.

Close to 7, 000 people performed for the reality show’s producers Saturday.

Each person had around 30 seconds to impress producers. If they didn’t, they were sent home. If they did, the person was invited to sing another song or two.

A couple hundred people, many of them Portlanders, moved on to the next round.

PORTLAND, Ore. – 7, 000 people spent a nerve-wracking day at the Rose Garden Saturday hoping to land a spot on the next season of American Idol.

This is the first time the show has held auditions in Portland and many contestants said they have been waiting for a decade since the show started for American Idol to come to town. Others traveled to Portland from places like Alaska and California.

Bono recalled his “special times” with Johnny and wife June in Hendersonville and also mentioned that he’d spent his Friday night discussing social causes with Bill and Karyn Frist, as well as country music stars he referred to by first names: “Carrie, ” “Dierks” and “Jennifer, “ among others.

The good news for James’ fans is the release of the first single and CD is just around the corner.

“It’s so so close, ” he said. “I think the single will be out by October. You can never say anything for sure. The album would be following.”

Cheryl Cole is ‘forced’ to return to US X Factor

Former X Factor US judge Cheryl Cole is being made to return to the US to film further scenes for the show.

A source told The People that the Girls Aloud beauty has to fulfill contractual obligations but does not want to go to the States.

The insider claimed that Cheryl has to go back to film further footage if requested by bosses at Fox TV.

The source is quoted as saying: “She made no secret of the fact that she does not want to go – and agreed only because TV channel Fox bosses gave her no option.

Mark Ballas — Dance Your Ass to Small Claims Court!

Defendant: “Dancing” pro Mark Ballas — accused of firing his ex-publicist and NOT paying.
Plaintiff: Ace PR — accused of doing a CRAPPY job.

Strap on your rhinestone pants … ’cause this one’s about to get NASTY!!!

Ballas has just been hit with a summons to appear in L.A. County Small Claims Court — because Ace PR claims the “Dancing with the Stars” pro never forked over $2, 637.75 he owed the company after he fired them back in September.

According to legal docs, obtained by TMZ, Ace claims Ballas agreed to pay them a “30 day termination fee” when he signed his contract … which is basically severance pay.

But sources close to Ballas tell us … the dancer believes he doesn’t owe Ace a dime, because they breached the contract by doing such a terrible job.

Ballas and Ace PR are set to face off in small claims court on July 8.
