One Republic’s Ryan Tedder has no shortage of songwriting gigs
I did a song on Beyonce’s new album, a handful of Carrie Underwood songs, a Rascal Flatts song, and then went into the studio with B.o.B. for a week. And I just did the music for Gucci — a super-electro/ambient track for their new campaign that you wouldn’t think I had anything to do with. I’m hopscotching genres, and that’s my favorite way to do it. And now I’m definitely trying to get in with Paul McCartney. That’s my ultimate goal in collaboration — McCartney.

The Night Clay Aiken Saved My Life
A room full of depressives, schizophrenics and recovering addicts will almost never agree on what constitutes “Must-See TV.” The only options that night were “American Idol” and a Mel Gibson movie, the one where the kids make tinfoil hats to ward off alien mind control. Watching anything brain-related in a mental hospital—forgive me, behavioral health facility—is pretty much verboten, so we decided on “Idol.” Personally, I was more interested in my proximity to Mike on the couch, and how his hand had crept toward mine under the edge of the stiff, synthetic blanket on my lap. It was August, but you wouldn’t have known it. The air conditioner was set to “arctic, ” and the skylight in the rotunda only registered day, night and rain.

‘Twilight’ Star Nikki Reed Is ‘The One’ For Paul McDonald
When MTV News caught up with McDonald at the “American Idol” Season 10 tour press day in Los Angeles, the singer opened up about planning the big day. “Well, yeah, I’m not allowed to say too, too much about that stuff, but it’s going good, ” he dished. “I love her to death.”
While outside observers may have felt that the two were rushing to the altar, McDonald says that they fell in love at first sight, which was even more surprising for him. “She’s amazing. It’s kind of one of those things you don’t expect, ” he said. “Like, last year I never would have thought I’d be getting married. She’s amazing. She’s the perfect girl. We fit each other; when you know you know and she’s the one.”

Simon Cowell Backs Louis Walsh ‘100 percent’ Saying Assault Allegations Are ‘Horrible”
LONDON – Simon Cowell offered his “wholehearted support” Friday to X-Factor judge Louis Walsh, branding the allegations of indecent-assault made against Walsh by a 24-year old Dublin man as “horrible.”
Cowell said that he had spoked to a very distressed Walsh and had assured him of his total support.
“I don’t believe for a second that these allegations are true. I feel very sorry for him, ” Cowell told The Sun newspaper. “I’ve spoken to him and he really is upset. It’s horrible. Like all his friends I will support him 100 percent.”

Glee Project Winner ‘Not Who You’d Expect, ‘ Says Ryan Murphy
If you think you’ve already pegged the eventual Glee Project winner, you’re probably wrong. | “The person that we ended up picking is not who you would expect, but is so talented that it’s really inspired us as writers, ” says Murphy. “The person who wins is not necessarily the best singer or the best dancer. It’s the person who can serve Glee best. What kind of character did we need for next season? That’s the person who won.”
Murphy didn’t concern himself with whether contestants were naughty or nice outside of challenges. | “I don’t care if you’re likable, but what I do care about is ‘Are you professional? Do you have a good attitude?’ That’s really important to me, ” he explains. To that end, the first two contestants to get the boot this season — Bryce and Ellis — both had minor clashes with Glee‘s behind-the-scenes gurus during the course of the show. “The person we’ve chosen has a great work ethic, really wants to be there, and having hung out with that person now quite a bit, is actually very lovable, ” says Murphy. “People are going to go crazy for them.”

‘The Voice’ has invaded Carson Daly’s dreams
No doubt “The Voice” has become a dream come true for NBC execs, but host Carson Daly says he had doubts it’d become such a bonafide hit.
“When NBC pitched the idea to me… It just didn’t sound like my sort of thing, ” he tells Vanity Fair. “I know that reality TV has definitely evolved and become more interesting over the last few years, but I was still reluctant. And then I watched the original Dutch version, and yadda yadda yadda, I just fell in love with the format.”
And these days, as “The Voice” winds down to its finale next week, Daly is even dreaming up ways to turn it into another franchise.
