Apollo Global Completes Acquisition of ‘American Idol’ Owner CKx

NEW YORK – An affiliate of private equity firm Apollo Global Management has completed the roughly $510 million acquisition of American Idol owner CKx Inc., the companies said early Wednesday.
CKx is the owner of American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance producer 19 Entertainment and also owns the rights to the likeness and names of Elvis Presley and Muhammad Ali.

After failed acquisition attempts by others in recent years, Apollo made a cash tender offer of $5.50 per share for CKx and a follow-up offer, which expired earlier this week.

Archangels rejoice!

“It’s great to be able to come and do a full show, with a full band this time. Because just the fan club that was in Malaysia was really great… and they still are, ” he said, chuckling slightly.

The Other Side Of Down, his most recent album, will dominate and set the repertoire of songs you will hear, but don’t be surprised if he serenades you with some of his older hits.

Even Archuleta is looking forward to be back on our shores for a proper concert this time around.

Kellie Pickler Holds Nothing Back on New Album

Who are some other of your songwriting heroes on the credits of the new album?

I’ve been able to write with several writers I’ve never been able to write with before. Dean Dillon is one. I couldn’t even believe that he took the time of day to write with little ol’ me. I remember writing with him and Dale Dodson. They wrote one of my favorite songs, Lee Ann Womack’s ‘Have You Seen That Girl?’ In the past five, ten years, that ‘Call Me Crazy’ album is one of my favorite that’s ever been released by a female. From front to back, every song on that record is amazing. I have ruined that CD, I’ve had to buy more than one copy, just playing the hell out of it. I adore Lee Ann and her work. To be able to write with someone who’s written, I don’t know how many songs, it’s one of those things where you sit in a room and look at him and think, “I hope that when I’m his age that there’s someone sitting in the room with me, looking at me the way I’m looking at him.” That’s what you aspire to be like as a writer.

Jennifer Lopez In Talks For ‘Parker’ And ‘What To Expect When You’re Expecting’

EXCLUSIVE: There has been much speculation over whether Jennifer Lopez will return for another season as judge on American Idol. Adding to the intrigue: she is in talks to star in not one, but two feature films. I’m told that Lopez is in discussions to play the female lead opposite Jason Statham in Parker, the Taylor Hackford-directed action film adaptation of the Donald Westlake mystery novel series. Deadline revealed yesterday that the picture was acquired for U.S. distribution by FilmDistrict CEO Peter Schlessel. Statham will play Parker, a thief who follows a strict moral code, but a hard guy who’s willing to kill if crossed. That character was previously played by Mel Gibson in Payback and Lee Marvin in Point Blank. The hope is to hatch an action franchise. John J. McLaughlin wrote the script and Steve Chasman is producing with Kimmel, Hackford, Les Alexander and Jonathan Mitchell. Lopez plays the female lead, a character named Leslie, who gets involved with Parker as he executes a heist.

‘X Factor’ auditions come to AA Center in Dallas

“There won’t be a second song for you. I feel like we went through all four seasons with the first one.”

Yes, folks, Simon Cowell is back as a singing-competition judge, delivering barbs as only he can. He and his fellow panelists on The X Factor , — Nicole Scherzinger, L.A. Reid and a radiant, sharper-tongued Paula Abdul, — are in Dallas this week to film audition segments for the show, which debuts on Fox this fall.

And any rumblings that he’s a sweeter version of his American Idol self are false. Thankfully.

“OK, so this is very easy, ” he told another hopeful at a taping at American Airlines Center on Tuesday. “It’s a no.”

Chris Colfer on Emmys, Golden Globes and, oh, yeah, his future on ‘Glee’

On the Glee class graduating Chris says:

“I don’t know what I can say on camera with a straight face and what I can’t!” Colfer replies nervously when I ask him for the dish. “I would just tell the fans: Don’t be worried. That’s all I’m gonna say because a lot of fans are worried that the characters are going to graduate and leave the show, but that’s not necessarily the case. Don’t fret.”

Pray For Nakia’s Mom and Grandmother!

Just found out that while I was performing tonight, back home in Alabama, my Mother had emergency surgery to save her finger after a spider bit her AND my Grandmother fell and injured herself on her way to visit her in the hospital. No one told me prior to my performance because they didn’t want me to worry prior to singing.

I know I have been hounding y’all for votes, but please pray for my Mother and Grandmother for a speedy recovery. Nothing is more important to me right now than this. I don’t even know if either of them got to watch me perform tonight.
