CBS Signs New 10-Year Deal To Carry The Grammy Awards Through 2021

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – June 21, 2011 — The Recording Academy® and CBS announced today a new 10-year deal that will keep Music’s Biggest Night®, the annual GRAMMY Awards® broadcast, on CBS through 2021. The new agreement further extends one of the longest broadcast partnerships in television history. CBS has been the broadcast home of the GRAMMY Awards since 1973. “The 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards” will take place live on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles from 8:00-11:30 PM, ET/PT.

Paul McDonald Is ‘Pumped Up’ About Marrying Nikki Reed

While Paul McDonald is busily preparing for American Idol’s summer tour, he’s got another big event in the works.

“I’m getting married – yes – to the lovely Nikki Reed. That’s been really exciting, ” McDonald, 26, tells PEOPLE. “I’m really pumped up about that. She’s an amazing lady, and I’m very lucky to be hanging out with her.”

Lauren Alaina, ‘Like My Mother Does’ – Lyrics Uncovered

Lauren Alaina‘s country music debut, ‘Like My Mother Does, ’ is a song penned by three of Nashville’s most sought after and respected songwriters: Liz Rose, Nathan Chapman and Nicki Williams.

“We wrote it with and for Nicki Williams, ” Rose tells Taste of Country of the song’s lyrics. “Nathan Chapman is not only a brilliant producer, but he is an incredible songwriter. We were writing with Nicki, and he said, ‘I have this great idea … Nicki, let’s write a song about you and your mother, because you are so close, called ‘Like My Mother Does.” Nicki was like, ‘I don’t know.’ We started playing with it. We know Nicki so well that it was really fun to write their relationship.”

Dia: The new Pia

Dia Frampton desperately wants to move out of her parents’ house.

The 23-year-old singer-songwriter — and current favorite to win NBC’s “The Voice” — was forced to return home to St. George, Utah, last summer when the band she formed with her sister was dropped by Warner Brothers Records.

“I had moved to New York for a while and was working at a cupcake store called Crumbs, ” she tells The Post. “And I was saving up to take singing lessons. But I ended up moving back, because I couldn’t afford to pay rent.”

‘The Voice’s’ EP Mark Burnett on Why The Show Works

As The Voice enters its final two weeks, executive producer Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Apprentice) says he’s happy with the show’s first season out. “The show has really lived up to my expectations, ” he tells The Hollywood Reporter.

“I think the viewership has showed that if it’s fresh and it feels worthy of your time, people will tune in, ” he says. “And we’re seeing that. So, it really lived up to what I wanted.”

“This is a very fast season, ” he says. “I think the fact that we’ll have a longer season next year is great, because you’ll get more of the blind auditions and more of those battle rounds.”

‘She should appear in Glee’: Matthew Morrison advises Cheryl Cole on how to crack the US

It’s good to see that not all Americans have given up on Cheryl Cole making it across the Pond.

Take Matthew Morrison for example who thinks the singer has still got what it takes – as long as she appears on Glee.

Morrison, who plays teacher Will Schuester in the hit TV show, said it would be a good way for the pop star to win over US audiences.

NEWS – Cowell’s mum: ‘Don’t blame my son for Cole drama’

Julie Cowell tells the Daily Express, “I think Cheryl does blame Simon unfairly for what has happened. She got very excited about everything that was going to happen in the US – but the Americans didn’t want her. There isn’t anything Simon could do about that; it isn’t Simon’s fault.

“I didn’t talk to Simon about what was going on. I do sometimes call him and tell him I disagree with him about certain things but there was nothing he could have done for Cheryl.”

However, Julie Cowell also offered some kind words to Cole, adding: “She is beautiful and talented and I’m sure she will do more wonderful things.”

Amy Winehouse cancels rest of European tour

LONDON (AP) — Troubled diva Amy Winehouse has canceled the rest of her European summer concert tour and scrapped all public performances after an embarrassing appearance in Serbia, her spokesman said Tuesday.

Chris Goodman said Winehouse, who has struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, “is withdrawing from all scheduled performances.”
