HDD – Album Sales Prediction : June 13-19

With 54.02% of the market reporting, HDD shows a tight three way race between chart champ Adele and two new comers. Adele is currently in first with AGT’s Jackie Evancho nipping closely at her heels. This is the 11 year old’s second CD in less than a year since she came in second on the fifth season of AGT. Her first album, an EP of Christmas and Opera ditties was released on Nov 16, 2010 and was certified platinum by December 10th. Also competing for first and not far behind is Bad Meets Evil’s latest CD “Hell: The Sequel” (some days, that title could be the title of this thread).

Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way continues to free fall. The CD is currently sitting at a distant 4th with almost 44K sold. HDD is predicting that this CD will see a 40% drop in sales from last week. That is an unusually large drop for a CD for it’s 4th week of sales. Sales should stabilize at some point, but that point has not yet been achieved by BTW.

Who has achieved the point of stable sales? Jason Aldean. Well, that’s not entirely true. His sales seem to be surging this week. More than 7 months after he released the CD (Nov 2, 2010), “My Kinda Party” continues to party in the top 5 of the album charts. Part of that is due to a very successful duet with Kelly Clarkson which has crossed-over to the mainstream charts and is helping to fuel sales. His recent award show duet with Ludacris probably helps as well.

Dueting is popular these days and another Idol duet also features on Brad Paisley’s latest CD “This is Country Music which is currently in 8th. His duet with Idol’s Carrie Underwood “Remind Me” is tearing up the Country charts. Carrie is also featured on the 9th place CD. Her single “Undo It” is one of the tracks on “Now Country 4”.

Sixth place is Ledisi’s “Pieces of Me” debuting this week. Now 38 holds down the seventh position. The final album in the top 10 is “Book of Mormon” – the cast recording of a Broadway musical written by the folks behind the cartoon South Park.

There are no solo Idols currently on the chart, but Idol Judge JLo is at 24th while The Voice’s judge Blake Shelton is at 19th
