Ellen DeGeneres wants ‘more dynamic’ people for ‘Idol’

As American Idol is a learning experience for singers, so it was for freshman judge Ellen DeGeneres.

“Your first year anywhere is going to be tough because you’re trying to figure out what your role is. I think next year my role will be to be exactly who I am, sometimes funny and sometimes serious and I think I’ll probably learn to be a little harder on people without being rude. But I think it was a fine line for me to walk this year, ”

“I’m hoping to find more unique people who never would have maybe been given a chance to be on the show, ” she said. “I like the fact that Crystal (Bowersox) was on the show this year and wouldn’t have necessarily been on before. I want to find more dynamic people and more interesting people.”

EXCLUSIVE: Randy Jackson Hopes Rupert Murdoch Replaces Simon Cowell on ‘Idol’

However, judge Randy Jackson isn’t at all disconcerted by the lackluster sales of the newly-crowned singing star.

“I’m never surprised by that kind of stuff, ” Jackson told Pop Tarts at the 6th Annual Butterfly Ball in L.A on Saturday evening. “I’m just happy that he won, I’m happy that we had a great finale and I think they’re both [DeWyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox] going to have great careers.”

“We’re taking our time with ]selecting a new judge], we’ll have a nice twist, ” Jackson assured us.

Although there is one person he would like to see take the hot seat – his very own boss, the head of News
Corporation, which owns FOX.

“I want Rupert Murdoch!” Jackson exclaimed.

Hawaii, Cabo just a start for singer

Jordin Sparks remains the youngest winner of “American Idol, ” having won the singing competition when she was just 17. And she plans on taking her dog with her, if possible.

Why “Glee” is this century’s “Twin Peaks”

Fox’s “Glee, ” which ends its first season tonight, is one of the most stylistically bold broadcast network shows since “Twin Peaks.” That might seem an unlikely claim on first glance: “Glee” is a feather-light comedy at least 70 percent of the time, and a glib, mannered one at that. From its wistful-kooky incidental music to its subtext-as-text quips (Noah “Puck” Puckerman: “That Rachel chick makes me wanna light myself on fire, but she can sing”), “Glee” is shellacked in cuteness. And its subject matter — the private and public melodramas of high school students and teachers — is the stuff that dismissive reactions are made of.

Glee Creator to Hunky Cast: “Don’t Do It in the Trailer!”

Glee creator Ryan Murphy was honored over the weekend at the ninth annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball, and he had three mega hotties from his cast in attendance: Mark Salling, Matthew Morrison and Matthew Morrison’s abs.

“Matthew sent me the picture two seconds after he saw it, ” joked Ryan about Morrison’s yummy, and out-of-nowhere, ab shot in this month’s Vogue. “He was very happy to show [his abs] off; he’s been making jokes about it.”

So how does Murphy try to tame his cast of incredibly sexy hunks? Simple…

It’s Official! John Stamos Will Come to Glee Next Season

Update: “It’s true, ” executive producer Brad Falchuk just confirmed to me exclusively: John Stamos will definitely be coming on for Glee’s second season! “Not sure how many episodes yet, ” he says.

Somewhere, Jayma Mays is crying with happy delirium. And I imagine, some of you fellow fans.

Here are more details on this awesome casting…

In what can only be described as an obvious ploy by my former future husband to recapture my attention, John Stamos is, as EW reported, joining Glee.

So why am I gonna have to put the smackdown on Jayma Mays?

In tonight’s episode (which I was on set for—playing a zombie!) we’ll learn that Jayma’s character, Emma, is “dating” her dentist. And that dentist will indeed be one Mr. John Stamos, who will appear in season two in a recurring role.
