Glee – Season Finale! – Journey – Recap

Download from iTunes:

There was so much in tonight’s finale that was completely unrealistic. There’s no way Quinn could birth a baby in 5 minutes, or Shelby be able to adopt her before she even leaves the hospital. But, still, I found this season-ender really satisfying.

The centerpiece of the episode–Vocal Adrenaline singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” intercut with Quinn birthing her baby was absolutely stunning. Loved that New Directions sang a Journey medley–coming full circle from the first episode when Rachel, Finn, Mercedes, Artie and Tina sang “Don’t Stop Believing.”

And the ending was perfect. New Directions may have had a lot of heart, but Vocal Adrenaline were better and clearly deserved to win, and gives the kids something to strive for next season.

And the plot twist with Sue Sylvester? It was totally awesome! Her reveal of an underlying respect for Mr Shue, while resenting him at the same time adds a few interesting layers to the relationship. I’m expecting some really good stuff from those two next season.

Frankly, the back 9 episodes weren’t as good as the ones in the first half of the season, so I was really relieved that the finale turned out to be one of the best of Season 1.

What did you think? Did you like? Are you going to miss Glee?
