Amanda Bynes Sought Musical-Making Wisdom From John Travolta

…As far as Tony is concerned, the current, yearlong competition — offering a top prize of $100, 000 and a music publishing deal — is giving tunesmiths a chance to shine. He notes that in recent times, the industry has been so focused on singer-songwriters, “if Cole Porter was around today, he wouldn’t have a record deal. I don’t think he was able to sing.” However, “American Idol” — with its contestants performing songs written by other people — is helping “the door open up again.”…

Judge Jumpers?
Okay, this next item falls under the rumors and speculation stage, but, uh, when has that nit-pickin crapola ever stopped me? Like Im gunnin for a Pulitzer here, or somethin? So, let goss away, anyway: According to one blabbin’ Industry type, loopy but lovable Paula Abdul and way too nice Randy Jackson may say sayonara to American Idol come next season.
My breathless boob-tube type insists Paula and Randy are in very preliminary talks to do their own show, separate from Simon Cowell. Reps for both Paula and Randy have not responded as of yet, but if this bailing biz were indeed true, itd bring up some interesting questions, to say the least:

We also suspect that she taught the animated cat from her “Opposites Attract” video a few moves…
