Hillary Fever Skips a Generation

…McPhee tried to get the crowd going with her song “Love Story.” The Clinton partisans declined her invitation to clap and wave. “Let’s hear it!” she said when she finished, to lackluster result. “In the back? I know you’re out there!” she pressed, earning the sort of applause that follows a weak lounge act.

McPhee gave an awkward chuckle. “That was kind of lame, I have to say, ” she told the middle-aged hipsters…

ABDUL OPEN TO ADOPTION

American Idol judge PAULA ABDUL is considering adoption if she is unable to have her own children biologically.
The single 44-year-old wants to raise a child with a father figure, but if she fails to find a suitable man before it is physically impossible for her to get pregnant, she will adopt.
Abdul says, “With medical technology these days, I could have children by myself using a donor. But I would rather be in a relationship so the child has a father to help instill core values.
“If it’s meant for me to have children naturally, I absolutely will. I love kids, I really do. And kids love me.
“I’m so open to the idea of adoption. But, again, I would like to be able to share the raising of the children.”

Plus plenty of other reasons Seattle nightlife should be spared the chair.

…Even stranger was the fact that the guy struck up a conversation with me outside the club afterward, apparently because he admired the tattoo I have of a turntable on my arm. “I’m getting one on my back, ” he told me, explaining that he still needed “to get the money together, ” and that he was hoping to have the work done by Kat from the Miami Ink television show. When I confessed I’d never made it through an entire episode of American Idol, he was pretty gracious, saying, “Neither have I!” and confiding that the only reason he wanted to be on the show in the first place was to land a spot on the forthcoming tour with fellow Idol contestants…

CanWest TV unveils fall plans

…Seacrest also has a radio show in Los Angeles, but Canadians know him best as the host of American Idol. Seacrest agreed whole-heartedly when it was suggested to him that if he and bullying judge Simon Cowell ever had an extended intellectual argument rather than just sniping at each other, Seacrest would be the favourite, not Cowell.

“I think you’re right, ” Seacrest said with a wide grin. “That may be the most accurate statement you’ve ever made.

“(Cowell) and I literally could sit for hours and spar, as if it were a ping-pong match. We have a very similar sense of humour and a similar understanding for what each of us do in the entertainment world. And he loathes any success of mine and I loathe any success of his.” …

Third place worked like a charm for Elliott Yamin

…As such, fans rallied around Yamin and defended him against perceived slights such as the fifth season finale when they felt Yamin was slighted by a haughty Mary J. Blige. She barely yielded Yamin a line to sing in their duet of U2’s “One.” Yamin insists he’s OK with that.

“That’s the way it was supposed to be, ” he says. “Even Nigel (Lythgoe) and Ken (Warwick, “Idol” producers) were trying to get Mary to kind of sing less and let me shine more but she said to them the song was recorded this way and ‘I’m doing it the way I did it with Bono.’ Just the fact I was up there with her was crazy in a great way…
