Pia Toscano Debuts New Single, Talks New Album

“I had to prove myself. I had to prove if I could do it, ” she says. “I didn’t get a record deal the second I got off the show; there were rumors that I had, but the thing is I really had to prove myself. It’s all what you make of everything; if you just go home after your elimination and pray that some label picks you up, it’s not going to happen. You really have to hustle. I think the label could see that I just wanted it so bad, and that I was willing to work and work and work. So that’s what led to the official signing of the deal.”

“When I was first starting on ‘Idol’ and meeting with producers, they asked, ‘What kind of artist do you see yourself as–if you had to choose any artist, who would you be?’ And I said, ‘I wouldn’t compare myself or try to be like any of these artists, but I’d like the sound of my album to be a mixture of Alicia Keys, Rihanna, and Christina Aguilera.”

KELLY CLARKSON ONLY HAS GOOD FEELINGS TOWARDS AMERICAN IDOL

Kelly Clarkson hasn’t had a hit single in two years. Her last hit song, Already Gone, was in 2009. But just as we expected, fan favorite Clarkson (who was the first winner on American Idol in 2002) is back on the music charts with her new hit single, Don’t You Wanna Stay, which also features country star Jason Aldean.

How she covers her roots: “To take the edge off, I spritz in a dry shampoo so you can’t see a line in my hair as my highlights grow out.”

American Idol Finalist Mandisa Sheds Weight, Gains New Perspective

What If We Were Real isn’t just an album title for season five American Idol finalist Mandisa. For her, it’s a newfound way of life.

During an interview with CMT.com, the talented pop and gospel singer opened up about her love of country music, the motivation behind her weight loss (120 pounds and counting) and her determination to honor God through a healthy lifestyle.

Prior to her stint on American Idol, the California native moved to Nashville to attend Fisk University, but she admits, “I didn’t know that Nashville was considered Music City when I moved here. I only discovered it after actually having been in college for a couple of years, so it was the perfect place for me.”

John Sullivan’s summer theater show a ‘family’ reunion

Many alumni of Barnstable Summer Family Theater productions have fond memories of their childhood summers with the group, as evidenced by the people who have returned to do the final show of “The Reluctant Dragon” before founder John Sullivan retires and shuts down the organization after 26 years.

“It’s a generational thing, ” Sullivan says in a press release. “We have many cast members who have been with us over the years. Many from the first year we started.”

One who has gone on to international fame through TV’s “American Idol, ” singer Siobhan Magnus, is in this show, too (except for the July 15 performance). In a move that Sullivan kept under wraps until the July 7 opening night, the Marstons Mills recording artist, who just wowed a crowd at Cape Cod Melody Tent, gets a solo written just for her in the expanded role of the innkeeper’s wife in “Dragon.”

Sorry, Kara: Bravo’s non hit ‘Platinum Hit’ bumped to Friday nights

I’ve enjoyed “Platinum Hit” for what it’s worth. But clearly not many others are. The show, which features Jewel and “Idol” refugee judge Kara DioGuardi, has been drawing fewer and fewer viewers each week since its debut.

On June 27, the last time it aired on Monday, the show drew a mere 397, 000 viewers.

That is far less than any of Bravo’s “Real Housewives” shows and even fewer than its “Project Runway” ripoff “Fashion Show.”

So Bravo, instead of canceling it outright, is burying it at 8 p.m. Fridays. I have it on DVR so I’ll keep tracking it. What do you think went wrong with this show?
