Idol Headlines for 05/12/11 – The Evening Edition

Jennifer Hudson tweets some bad news to her fans, “Hey guys! I just want to apologize to all who were looking forward to seeing me on tour this summer. Due to my upcoming projects the tour has to be rescheduled. I would never cancel a chance to meet my fans! I love all of u n cant wait to see u! (I wonder if the problem was poor ticket sales…)

The CMT music cable channel will be airing a disaster relief concert tonight at 8 pm to aid those affected by the recent Tornados. Crystal Bowersox will be on hand to answer phones and Carrie Underwood taped a special segment for the broadcast. The show airs at 9/8c pm on CMT. We’ll all be watching Idol, but I’m sure it will air again later. Proceeds of the telethon will go to the Red Cross.

‘American Idol’ behind the scenes: ‘Idol’ coaches talk the Top 4 — EXCLUSIVE

HALEY REINHART – “Earth Song” (Michael Jackson)
DEBRA BYRD: She wanted the choir, because it’s a big song and she thought three back up singers would not give her the feel that she would like — the subject matter is weighty, she knew that she needed extra voices. I have to laugh [about Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez’s criticisms]. I sing a song about what inspires [me], and you say that song isn’t right for [me]. That’s just a bit odd. But hey, that’s the whole thing about this TV show — it’s all subjective. The interpretation I take from that is the judges see her in a specific light and they didn’t see her in that light. That’s what I got out of it.

Steven Tyler: Here’s the Idol Vote Americans Got Wrong

While Tyler didn’t say that James Durbin, Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina don’t deserve to still be there, he did make it very clear who he wishes hadn’t been sent packing.

“I was really bummed that Naima [Adedapo] got booted off because there’s character there, ” he said. “The best ones are the ones that us ordinary folks can find character in and hang our hat on that. Not just the great singing.”

Stefano added, “Definitely still waiting for those Grammys.”

Blake Lewis: ‘J.Lo and Randy Were Unnecessarily Harsh With Haley Reinhart’

The night started out nice. People usually arrive at my place around 8:30–9PM and we get the party started. This time my DVR box really didn’t want us to watch ‘Idol.’ I was pissed! It kept glitching out every two seconds during some of the performances. Oh well! We set the computer on a stool and plugged it into my stereo system as a quick fix.

We only got to watch the performances and a couple of the Gaga critiques. Kind of interesting not hearing the judges;usually that’s a contestant’s dream when on stage, and I have to admit, it was nice not hearing them. On that note …
