If he makes the cut, Arlington Park will host Lee DeWyze party

Although his schedule is still being finalized, DeWyze will probably start his day on the Fox TV network in Chicago.

After that, he is expected to do some radio interviews before heading to Wrigley Field to throw out the first pitch at the 1:20 p.m. Cubs game against Pittsburgh.

From Wrigley, DeWyze will come to Mount Prospect for a 4:30 p.m. motorcade along Northwest Highway between Route 83 and Central Road, said Mount Prospect spokeswoman Maura El Metennani.

From there, it’s over to the track, where DeWyze will perform three songs starting at about 6:30 p.m.

Horse racing on Friday will start at 1 p.m. instead of 3 p.m. and wrap up around 5:30 p.m. to accommodate the concert, said track spokesman Dave Zenner.

St. Pete mayor makes pitch for ‘Idol’ votes

The mayor of St. Petersburg is calling on residents to vote for Michael “Big Mike” Lynche on “American Idol” this week because as a St. Pete native and Lynche could get the city showcased on national television.

In a released statement, Mayor Bill Foster says “it’s crunch time” for Lynche and “if Tampa Bay’s own” makes it into the final three this week “you’ll be able to show him your support in person during a nationally televised ‘American Idol’ St. Pete concert stop on Friday.”

The top three finalists will visit their respective hometowns this week for segments that will air on the May 18 episode.

Catching up with Carly Smithson

Read on for our Q&A with the Irish-born Smithson (nee Carly Hennessy) in which she tries to explain why Season 7 is so tight and tells of a recent wedding she attended featuring a very familiar wedding singer – Season 9’s Michael Lynche!

Have you been watching “Idol” at all this year?

Not really. Our satellite is a little temperamental on the bus, and I’m usually on stage when “Idol” is on. And with the boys, it’s a horror movie fest every night. I swear I’ve never seen so many horror movies in my life. It’s insane.

Erin Andrews: A New View of Elisabeth Hasselbeck?

Andrews told “Extra, ” “I heard what she had to say on ‘The View’ and I listened to everything she said… she called me. I didn’t speak with her, ” and it doesn’t seem like Andrews has any plans to speak with Hasselbeck anytime soon. “I’m just gonna leave it at that and move on, ” she said about the attempted phone call.

An emotional Elizabeth apologized to Erin, but “DWTS” castoff Tony Dovolani said, “An apology is not enough. Elizabeth really should’ve thought before she spoke on that.”

Deeley not in talks for US X Factor

Cat Deeley has claimed she hasn’t been approached to present the US version of The X Factor.

The So You Think You Can Dance host said there was no truth to newspaper reports that she and Dermot O’Leary were being lined-up to front the prime-time show when Simon Cowell brings it to America.

“I don’t know a thing about it, not a thing, ” the presenter insisted at a special party in Hollywood, where her close friend Matthew Williamson was being named Britweek Designer Of The Year.

But Cat joked she’d be willing to take Simon’s calls if he wanted a chat.

“You never know, providing I’m not chatting to someone else, ” she laughed.

The glamorous presenter said she was a big fan of Dermot.

Kevin caught up with Carrie Ann and her mother while they were on their way to the 17th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women in Los Angeles, Calif. The “Dancing” judge started out talking about competitor Nicole Scherzinger, who she says is the best dancer they’ve had on the show. Regardless, she still had some advice for the Pussycat Doll. “Nicole needs to keep it exciting. She’s getting a little serious and that’s not fun to watch. She needs to bring joy back to her dances.”
